What sort of advise are you looking for?

I don't work for a PCT - but i've worked with PCTs.

Just looking to complain about a PCT - is there a certain group/ people about whom I can complain to about the poor treatment I have recieved because of them ? for example there are trading standards for trade problems - so if you have an issue with the PCT , who do I go to ?

I would first take your complaint to the PCT itself, once you have recieved a reply from the trust and are still unhappy...

Look at the board of trustees on your PCTs website to, send them all your complaint..

http://www.ombudsman.org.uk/index.html

You can complain at the above if all else fails

Board of trustees will normally have links with various departments, choose the ones who most meet your area of complaint.

They may well ignore you, it actually wouldn't surprise me if they did.. Having been unfortunate enough to work with some, who are btw... The biggest bunch of ass covering idiots i've ever meet...

But the point is to send a letter - get it on record you've tried to complain to the trust, both to their complaints department and board of trustees.

Then if you get no action, or the action taken is not adequate in your opinion..

You can then elevate the claim to the ombudsman, with the relevant proof that you've tried to settle the matter before taking such action.

Majority of PCT websites have details of the board of trustees

Names
Department of responsibility / departmental links
Email (sometimes)
Address

If it for example only has the name - send the letter to the PCT. Addressed to the appropriate member.

Further..

Make sure any letter is sent recorded delivery...

Make sure you complaint to both the complaints department of the PCT (As they'll have their own one)... AND the board of trustees - at the same time, make reference to the ombudsman aswell..

Every PCT has a PALS dept (patient liason). If you call the main office they should give you the number. They will spend time going through it with you and can suggest solutions .

If it has gone too far, for all that, they will help with writing the letter and give you all the info on who to direct it to. PALS are there as a support service for patients.

You have to give the PCT an opportunity to look into the complaint before going to the Ombudsman. I would give it 3 months, see what sort of response / actions have been taken by the PCT and then write to Ombudsman if not satisfied. At that stage you can send a copy of your letter to the Ombudsman to the PCT.
