Just a heads up, PCWorld are not offering price matching in their stores anymore.

You can still get the price match, but you have to call customer services and give them receipt, Sku, and details of where you would like the product price matched to.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!!

Isn't this how it's always been, but they are just enforcing the policy that was laid down by head office?

pcworld is run by monkeys who need training 247 to keep them updated on little things

sadly thier training is bad
#3
That's odd. I got a price matched in store this afternoon - saved almost £30 on a memory card.........
#4
Sounds like the OP got brushed off at their local PCW.
#5
Presumably to deter people then...make it too much trouble? I've had staff get quite grumpy and appear cheesed off when you show them a price match 30-40% cheaper like it's coming from their own wallet. Loads of 'em didn't know how to price match plus the 10% anyway!
#6
I didn't get brushed off - I work there. Head office letter yesterday that we received. Alot of stores probably haven't taken this into effect yet, as our store still has the posters up which we are in the process of doing. will probably take a week to come into effect fully and for all staff to be briefed on it, so if you can still price match it then do it. If not, just phone up customer services.

We check our prices against major retailers and websites every day so you can buy with confidence.

If you find a lower price for the same product and offer, we'll reduce our price by 110% of the difference – even up to 7 days after purchase.

This applies to prices offered by retailers within 30 miles of your local PC World store and the UK websites listed below. The competitor must have the item in stock and website prices must include delivery. Single unit purchases only.

To take advantage of our price promise, please telephone our sales team on 0844 561 0000 clearly stating the following details:

1. Your name and delivery postcode
2. The product, price and our product code you are interested in purchasing
3. The name of the Internet site or store offering a better price

Once the price is verified we can process your order immediately over the telephone.

Websites: items sold by Amazon.co.uk*(excluding Amazon Marketplace), Argos, Asda, B&Q, Comet, Dabs*, Ebuyer.com*, Dell, Evesham Technology*, Game, Gamestation, Halfords, HMV, Jessops, John Lewis, Maplin, Misco*, Play*, Staples, Tesco, Toys r Us, Virgin, Woolworths

(* Excludes Televisions)

Didnt think they had any training!
#10
why are some of you such stereotypical xxxxxxxxxxx? and what the hell does training have anything to do with PC World stopping the price matching?
#11
They got any decent cheap laptops in PC World?
#12
Advent 5411

I dont think its too bad for the price. No where near up to scratch to be playing games on or anything, but not bad.

And of course being 32bit, you wont get the full 4gb of ram, just 3.2gb. Upgrade it to 64bit to get full potential.

went in yesterday and I mentioned good deals on a base unit etc and they said they would price match. does it depend from store to store?

If people are trained properly then they will know what the store policies, R&R are etc. and improve the reputation of PC World employees of being uninformed monkeys.

I went to PC World yesterday to price match the play.com 8GB Sandisk memery stick on my way home and the numpty said they don't price match Play.com I couldn't remember off hand if it was true or not as I hadn't looked at the full list recently and I didn't want to argue - turns out they do and he should have price matched it.

If the **** at the store was trained knew what they're own policies were they would have had a satisfied customer instead of pissing me off and wasting a trip unecessarily.

People actually shop in PC World, oh my days.

Not anymore they wont . The price promise was the only thing most folks went in there for.
#17
agreed.

i had my local store pricematch the play pny optima 8gb last week. it took 3 shop floor monkeys before i found one who a) knew that they price matched play b) knew HOW to price match

and even then he had to call a manager because he insisted the 110% was only if you've already purchased the item.
#18
Lots of idiots work in PCW - I could easily tell you off the top of my head who they pricematch (i.e. Play, eBuyer, Amazon, Misco, Dell and a few others), but most people wouldn't know.

Don't tarr all PCW employees with the same "moron" brush - were not all bad (although most are!).

Will check if this is true at work tomorrow (another "PCW Insider").

EDIT - FWIW I've done a price-match before without having to call any managers :D Go me.

no we dont price match dell... never have done. And the guy who said that the idiots dont price match play.com? We dont anymore. READ my original post. We dont price match instore anymore. Numpty. oh and yes he obviously was trained to know we dont price match anymore. And to serve and idiot like you.

oh and also Jakg... you need to speak to him again as he obviously hasnt checked cool. let him know
#23
Ok, PCW have price-matched Dell in the past (although now it seems they don't).

Will have a look on cool today to see if i can find it but :( if it's gone for good instore.
#24
FWIW I checked myself and it seems i can't find anything suggesting Price Match has been pulled.

Although I am a lowly CA new to Cool...

Checked myself on Cool (aka the PCW staff intranet website doda)
#27
They were still price matching in store tonight. I just 'saved' £27.50 on a 2gb Sandisk Extreme sd card (£4.99 at play.com), I got it (eventually) for £2.49. And the massive Price Match signs are still up.........

Yes you wont find any info on it because it HASNT been pulled... just the terms and conditions have changed. You need to search for it on cool, then read the terms.

Actually I dont know why im trying to fight this battle - I know this information because it was given on cool at work. If i remember i will print it off and bring it home to upload on here. I cant be bothered spending time arguing with people about price matching.
#29
So what some PC World staff are rubbish.. i have to admit thats true but why do you tarnish them all with the same brush!! Maybe if they came to your place of work after a hard day you might be less than happy to help, its because of constant rude and abusive customers that some are like this. I have to admit that if someone was rude to me and said ''price match this now'' then i'd be a little hesitant to do so.
Just to second the price matching comment from Master Munt PC World HAVE stopped price matching in store as i too have been shown the email etc!!
#30
1) If they've 'stopped', how is it that that previous guy got his sandisk matched against play?

2) WHERE ON EARTH does it say on the PC WORLD website (or anywhere) which ONLINE retailers are price-matched? I can't see it anywhere, yet eveeryone keeps saying they have no problem getting price-matches against play etc. Is eBuyer included in the deal?

Cheers for any help.

P.S. PC World employees are all tarnished with the same brush due to the fact (one would logically assume) that the _majority_ are rubbish. If PC World chooses to employ, in majority, idiots, then why should customers be expected to take care with their tar and brush?

ANSWER: They shouldn't.
#31
Hey peeps. PCWorld have changed their Ts & C's. They no longer pricematch play, dabs, ebuyer, amazon ...
I.E. anyone who is cheeper than they are :(
So no more pricematch fun for me . Boo !
#32
We did try to tell you that they were stopping the price matching so that you could take full advantage of it, but some people didn't believe us!! There are some decent staff out there, yes some might be monkeys but others go out of their way to help!! Just dont get given a chance by half minded dim wits that think they know better!!
[mod]#33
You can't blame them.............they'd have got hammered on the Fifa deal on Play.

But on the flipside, i now no longer go there as there is no point as they aren't competitive so no more passing trade from me or others in the same boat. But there are plenty of people who don't know there are better deals than at PC World so they won't suffer.
