Penalised For Living in Scotland!

Well I can't argue with Sainsburys, M&S etc - if they say they can't deliver orders from people in Scotland then I am sure they have no option - but why are they not taking orders? Why not take the orders and state that delivery date to be advised?

If we can't order till early in new year, VAT will go up and everything we want to order now will cost us 2.5% more. Why penalise us financially as well as messing up our Christmas???

The Government should waive the increase till we have time to order all the stuff we are prevented from at the moment.

lol, some how i dont think the government are going to put the vat increase on hold because you've not managed to get your chrissy presents ordered.

"but why are they not taking orders?"

err, because they can't guarantee when they will be delivered! Not much point ordering half a ton of stuff for Christmas if it won't get to you until the new year!

free uni, free prescriptions.

And you think you have it bad because you can't get off your backside to actually go to their physical shops?

Just order the things after christmas.

You know, boxing day sales, January sales all start before the January 4th tax increase.

Incorrect, we do not have free prescriptions. For the record, the "physical shops" don't have the things I ordered or I would go and get them.

Yeah cheers mate I think you missed the point I was making - If I want them I will have to pay 2.5% more for them and I didn't do anything wrong or make the snow!

Order them on the 26th then!!!!

I have managed to get my chrissy presents ordered, one from the 4th Dec is still "in transit" and a few more. I don't care much if things don't arrive in time for Christmas, I didn't say that - what I said was I want to order it now and take delivery whenever they can get through - but not be charged an extra 2.5% because I can't order now.

Yes but the Rolex's are quite vulgar. We prefer Sekonda but does Alex Salmond listen?

And without wishing to stereotype in anyway, Dodgy goalkeepers, lack of daylight, rubbish summer, The Proclaimers, mars bars in batter, more snow than anywhere else in UK. And an abundance of ginger people and tartan. With no food due to snow.

Not just any Scottish Christmas, this is an M&S Scottish Christmas.

Yes, my £10, why should the Government get it, I probably had to earn £20 to be left with the £10 after tax NI & VAT - or should they put VAT up 2.5% every January, as it is nothing much really, you wouldn't be bothered by "feck all" 2.5% more being taken!

Sorry to those who didn't see the tongue in cheek nature of this thread. I will, for you, stop moaning over a few pennies. Let Osborne have my tenner, I have after eights and 2 bottles of JD for which I only paid £25 for both at Tesco. Our Christmas will survive this fiscal pressure.
1 Like #35
You can't tell me I am wrong Jumping man as I didn't say I was spending £1000 or indeed any total amount. Someone else brought up the spend of £1000. But I'll be the eejit if he takes the pressure off you for a day!
#36
For the record I will spend exactly the amount needed to make 2.5% of it £10. £400 on pressies this year then. Let Osborne have my tenner

But you did agree it was your £10 in a £1000.
I rest my case.
No need to go on.

No, I agreed it was my £10, I have never mentioned £1000 so there really is no need for you to go on - with your nonsense!

Look you seem quite an intense person and I was having a laugh with some of the other members. I'll leave you to your serious calculations and go to bed now. It is quite plainly of major importance to you whether I can do sums or not so let's say I can't. You're happy, I don't give a toss, everyone's a winner.

Night all.
