I got a text message from my missus yesterday (after a failed voice call) to say there was an emergency and to call ASAP.
I called and found out that my Dad had been involved in an incident at home and the police had been called.
Basically he was at home in the living room, heard a very loud bang noise outside at the back of the house. He went to investigate. By the time he found the key and unlocked the back door, he opened it to find that someone was in the porch and the back double glazed door had been put through. Luckily this guy was more shocked at being caught he simply bolted after letting out a loud yelp of surprise.
Allegedly, my dad swore at this guy as he fled and has admitted he would liked to have throttled him had he managed to get hold of him.
Obviously, smashing a back door isnt a nice thing to do, but these people need protecting from abusive language and threats of violence Luckily, the police havent said they are going to press charges, but who knows these days!
(Hey in this PC world.. I wasnt quite sure how to say this without getting jumped on for being related to someone who had just reacted in this way!)
So there you go. Broad daylight(2pm) daylight smash and grab.
Time to install CCTV at his house I think (but without sound - I dont want to hear that sort of language!)
Insurance was pretty good. Door was boarded up by 5.30pm. But it makes you wonder how safe anyone is when things like this happen in broad daylight!
Oh. And inb4 comments about "rough areas" and alike
