Fill in your details online to push for this urgently needed cause - link in post 1
With the growing numbers of wounded personnel repatriated to the UK and with continued growth in medically discharged personnel since the Falklands war to current conflicts and operations, our service men & women and veterans of previous operational service are owed the best medical care possible. The existing facilities are falling short and the NHS are not meeting the needs of veterans who still need treatment for their service related conditions. A dedicated Military & Veterans Hospital will greatly help resolve this National scandal since the complete closure of our military hospitals that has proved to be total folly. Deadline to sign up by: 19 August 2008

This has been posted before but I'm not convinced dedicated hospitals are the right way forward......

I agree that health care for all should be of a high quality but whether dedicated hospitals are the solution is questionable.

There is more information about medical services here (if this is uptodate - there is more than just one hospital)
http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/DefenceNews/DefencePolicyAndBusiness/FactsheetMedicalSupportToPersonnelInjuredOrSickOnOperations.htm

However the source may be biased.....its the MOD

gari is right this isnt the right way forward at all, yes the troops deserve everything but perhaps contribute towards private healthcare instead of taking more resources away from our already dwindling NHS because thats what they will do.

Also i have always been very iffy towards petitions your better going through your MP and trying to get there support as to me petitions are never ever utilised by governments its like "oh loads of paper cheers, they can go with the rest of them)

(proud wearer of a help for heroes wrist band) and me and my partner are going to be raising money at stoneleigh country show bank holiday weekend for the campaign hopefully by the miliary veichles. (waiting for a response from the charity.)

I think everyone (soldiers, policemen, firemen, children, young mums etc ) should get the same level of healthcare in the nhs (unless they opt for private healthcare) but no way should the forces have to take out private healthcare. BTW the MOD pays the NHS to provide medical services for them.

But I agree that many of these petitions (not necessarily this on) are based on very bad assumptions, they rarely suggest sustainable solutions/alternatives and generally misguide people.
