Is it just in my area or are Tescos always second last to bring petrol down and then first to put it up??

Twice in the past week Tesco have been first in the area to slip 1p per litre on where as some other local garages havent even put the first penny on but tesco are in there with another 1p rise today.......

Its been creeping up again steadily over the last week. Heard on the radio today that oil price is supposed to be at lowest for a while now. So obviously the two don't go hand in hand
#8
Why are the prices going up?.........oil prices are still falling. im confused

Its to do with this russian gas pipeline carry on , they were saying on tv last week that it would affect the oil price , if only thru scaremongering

Just noticed Tesco's have put the petrol up AGAIN thats twice in two days and 3 times in a week at their store near me........ Unleaded now 85.9p from 82.9p last week

All the others nearby have still only put one rise on in the past week making them 83.9p and even a couple still at 82.9p , not sure what Tesco are up to but they must think people are stupid and can be conned with double clubcard points........

Are the doing the same in other parts of the country?

Tesco every little helps : first up last down.......

rubbish eh, my area didnt go as low as 81.9p stopped at 82.9p but the email I got from petrolprices.com this week didnt show the latest two tesco rises so you might have rises up to 85.9p to come if you have and use a tesco in your area.....

Up here Shell, Sainsburys etc are still showing as 83.9p with a couple of 82.9p still around, jet. I just hope this is tesco ripping people off and not an across the board rise of 2p in 2 days coming..........

up another 2p today

A local Texaco in Birmingham has added 3p overnight to 93p for petrol. How quick they are to raise prices compared to how slow they are to cut them!
[helper]#15
Although I don't welcome prices going up again at least we don't have deal threads posted every hour because the price has dropped by 0.00000001p........
#16
89.9p here, been creeping up about 1p the past 3 weeks.
#17
seems speculators could be responsible for lots of these price fluctuations
Money programme The Speculators BBC2 at the moment suggests this

Thats my local Tesco applied its FOURTH rise to unleaded petrol today in less than two weeks......Up to 86.9p for unleaded

With oil still in the low 40 dollar per barrel area I cant see how Tesco can justify these rises and im surprises the media hasnt noticed it slipping back up particularly at Tesco.......

The shell stations and some others near me are still at 83.9p

Suppose the retailers will just blame these strikes for the rises if they are pulled up hmmmmm
#19
Thats my local Tesco stuck the petrol up again today, 5th time in less than 3 weeks up to 87.9p for unleaded where as the oil price seems pretty stable in the 40-45 dollar mark.....

Hmmm looks like lets cut food prices to keep up with the others and make the money back off fuel........

Im really surprised the media arnt reporting this 6% rise in 3 weeks .........from 82.9p

I worked in a Tesco Petrol station for nearly 9 years before I left last Dec....

and YES....

pretty much always last to drop first to rise. They blame saying it's coz they sell so much it's the buying prices (bullbleep!!!!)

Mmm yeah I wonder how many customers they may lose as a Tesco Express petrol station also near me was at 87.9p today with an empty forecourt where as next door on the same side of the street is a Shell station at 84.9p which had quite a few cars on it........You would think they might notice next door is 3p per litre cheaper

Although the main Tesco Extra stores pumps, also 87.9p were busy enough, lots of people clearly dont look at how much they pay for petrol and Tesco just milk that......Either that or they are silly enough to think that double clubcard points is worth paying 3 or 4p per litre more for

yup but the call to change prices comes from Head Office so stores just can't change prices to what they want - regardless of it being empty coz of one on the same street being lots cheaper. The store will email head office about it, and with a petrol price survey of the surrounding area...

we had to do this at ours a lot. and it could take a couple of days before head office emailed us a change of price notice. even longer if it was at the weekend.
