PSP slim and lite is err... slimmer and lighter

Really apart from that I think the firmware is often more up to date and more accessories are compatible with the slim and lite. Also the slim and lite has improved battery power, TV output, and quicker loading periods.

Wouldnt bother gettin the slim and lite one theres the new psp bright coming

I'm pretty pleased with my phat psp (bought for £50 from whsmith)
It's not that "fat" at all. Have put cfw on it and it's pretty versatile in addition to my NDS.

It's clearly superior to NDS in terms of video and internet browser.

However the internet browser is still unable to load some of my favourite sites.
For example it refuses to load facebook.

I know that the slim and lite has twice as much on board ram than the phat.
Does this actually make any difference to the internet browser?

Can you slim and lite owners access facebook?!
That is the question

Awaiting your answers and all discussion relating to all things PSP (phat and slim welcome)

facebook wont work as the java in the psp firmware is many versions behind that of which is used on most web sites.

The slim and light has double the ram which it uses to cache UMD data. This makes the load times shorter for most games.
The extra ram means that the web browser works a bit more smoothly for some heavy sites, but if you ask me that browser is still rubbish! The browser on my N95 phone is far better.

An important feature of the Slim and light that no one has mentioned is that it has TV out capabilitiy at DVD quality (480p). This means you can watch UMDs on your big screen at home at DVD resolution. I bought a docking station for this purpose, as my local Gamestation are selling pre-owned UMD moves for £3 each!

All in all, if you are like the sound of the TV out feature, it's worth the extra for the slim and light in my opinion.

Hmmm, that psp 3000 looks pretty good.
Looks like I'll hold myself back for that.

Tis' a shame to hear about the internet browser still not being that great in slim and lite. Is a nice feature to have on the go.
Surely the psp has more raw power than the n95 or the ipod touch (the browser of which looks pretty impressive)

Lol i havent got the money to fork out on a new one, ive only got a phat. one thing i like about the slim n lite is skype.

If you want a slim and lite then you had better buy one quick as they are being phased out from September. The new PSP (3000) has a better screen, microphone... but worse battery life than slim and lite.

Ram is the constraint that stops the web browser from being good. Browsing the web with 64mb of ram (in the slim and light, 32mb in the phat) is not the best experience. Not sure what wizardry Nokia pulled off with the N95 to make the browser comparatively great.

yeh but tbh, if your gonna fully go on the net, then surely the computer is a must. (if you get me - its not its main purpose but it gets the job done i guess)

Just worth mentioning that the new psp "might" be pandora-proof.

I have heard that this is true also. It is probably one of the main reasons for bringing it out as firmware updates can no longer protect against this.

I believe that the slim and lites being produced at the moment for the U.S. are already "Pandora-proof".

I would guess like most other things, it will be cracked sooner or later.

Hmmm, not sure this would be a wise move for them.
I, for one, only bought my PSP for its capabilities with custom firmware.

Yes, but they make no money from hardware, so stopping people who buy no games is better for them.

So a wise move for them it would be. :)
