Just thought I'd quickly share with you one of the most exhilarating weekends of my life to date!! Totally awesome...
As some of you know I do p/t mobilie dj/karaoke work. We ( Mrs & kid & soon new kid)are also in the process of escaping chav/drug-infested Newquay,Cornwall & moving over to Dorset.

Well-had my first couple of DJ jobs over in Dorset at the weekend- Friday, a superb wedding in a great spot in the New Forest- nice hotel, great people, superb setting. A true top night. The best place I've seen to have a wedding yet & I've seen some nice venues but believe me, this place was beautiful.
Second gig- Saturday I worked the Bournemouth University Students Union summer Ball. A massive outdoor festival with 6000+ people & Scouting For Girls, Pendulum also on the bill. An absolute awesome event with little ol' me doing a bit of DJ'ing. I had full hospitality from them & was treated very well indeed. I had a artist pass & Met the bands & had a great laugh- all the students in fancy dress were great & it was a superb day/night.

Then at 1am last night, as the gig is in full swing, ( it was on until 5am BTW), my moby goes & its the Mrs...

...She's at home in Cornwall (approx 150 miles away) & she thinks she's going into labour!!!!!!!! ( 3 wks early!!)
Luckily I had almost finished my bit, the organisers were kind enough to let me wrap things up a bit early- they even helped me load my gear -top people- & then a mad dash back to Cornwall.
She's still in slow labour!!! I've not yet had proper sleep since Fridy nite/sat morning & I'm buzzing/running on a bit of adrenaline but still going. I think.
Anyway, that's all- i'm gonna try get a bit of rest!!

Sorry if I've babbled!!

Yeah thanks guys- our 2nd!

sprog 1 is 10 so a bit of a gap.

Sure she's ok- just a bit uncomfy & p'd off at the mo. Can't blame her- will post pics/news as occurs.
Hospitals are dodgy down here- they've actually sent her home but on 'standby' to call if /when things change. Fair enough but the maternity unit is 12miles awayin Truro!

No worried though - it's all cool.

Good luck KC!

Sounds like the next change in life is more than a new kid! Good luck with the labour, and also the move to Devon! Nice place, (once they stop calling you a Grockle!)

:-D

Good luck with No. 2! Pass all our best wishes onto the missus!

Yeh tell me about it,I got sent home last time about 5pm,we had to mess about getting an ambulance come 9pm,about 18miles away for me,I did call up the birthing unit which about 10min walk away but they wouldn't take me as they said I was too far gone by sounds of things and they only have you there if you go smoothly and imagine if you settle down and they find out you need a transfer so I got refused.Time I got a bed and can manage to lay down it was practically time.

Congratulations, hope all goes well with the new baby. Welcome to Dorset, we moved here 10 years ago (from south London) and have absolutely no regrets, wonderful place to live. (Dont worry about being called a Grockle! It's only for the tourists!)

Sorry to sorta change the subject, but what is Newquay like? Me and a load of mates are going there in a few weeks, so is there much to do?

What is the nightlife like? Any good activities like go-karting? Any places which we should avoid?

And best of luck:thumbsup:

Yep- They were in a huge big top/marquee thing with Scouting For Girls- a brilliant show. Watched a bit from the side of the stage.
I was in a seperate marquee which was made to look like a giant beach hut & they laid tonnes of sand in front to make a 'beach'. A great laugh. Played all sorts of music - the place rocked. I'll try and get some photos on here when i get the energy!!

Christchurch is nice - we're looking at Bournemouth or Poole. I worked in Burley on Friday night at the Burley manor Hotel if you know it. A stunning place.

No worries- depends what you're after. Newquay is ok for a quick visit but sadly, I wouldnt recommend it to anyone for a family holiday - contrary to popular belief there's noyt a great deal for kids anymore unless they're content with the beaches which to be fair are very nice.

There is karting but its at a place called St Eval which is approx 10miles north of Newquay. Theres paintball a bit closer & Lusty Glaze beach has a beach placed extreme sports thing which is close to town. Or you could always get a surfing lesson! Gets rid of hangovers although at this time of year, decent waves are a bit few & far between.

If you and your mates are after nightlife then there's a fair bit but it's not as good as it was a few years ago. The pubs used to be chilled with good bands/DJ's etc but nowadays most are full of chavvy kids, boozed up stag parties or druggys.

Tell me what sort of nightlife your after & I'll gladly point you in the right direction -

And best of luck:thumbsup:
Cheers!
