firstlt the sizes are differewnt so depends on what screen size you need. Generally i think Panny Viera's are quite good.

We do not have that big of a living room so size is not that important ( the wife may disagree). We would use the tv for dvd playback and bit of gaming.
Both of these seem to have good reviews so which one would you guys go for?
Trouble is there are too many tvs out there!

Best thing you can do is go and look yourself! No point in taking peoples viewpoints - its your eyes thats going to be watching the set afterall!

But since you've asked for an opinion, there is no contest. Panasonic are pretty much the best. Only Pioneer can challenge. Phillips come nowhere!

Cheers Guv. I have seen both tv's and just by looking in the shop I cant see that big a difference between the two.

Funnily enough my brother has the philips and my Mum has the panasonic. aesthetically the philips looks better and I really couldnt tell the difference on picture quality but the philips definitely sounded better.

Isnt there a price differential here too?

John lewis are doing the philips with 5 yr warranty for £649 I think less quidco.

best bet is to work out how far your head will be from the TV when watching. over 8 foot and the 42" would be better IMHO

It would depend on what the tv was mainly used for as well. If its SD mainly such as sky and freeview then the panny would be better - my uncle has the 42" version and sky looks great on it. If its gaming then there i would assume the philips may be slightly better due to the better resolution
#11
I would buy either of these tvs from John Lewis with their 5 year guarantee and try to price match. They would then work out the same price each. Would be used for both tv and gaming

Panasonic TH 42PX80B about £654 pricematch sound and vision
john lewis give u 5 years warranty :P
#13
The other two are around the 540.00 price. With the J.L 5 year warranty
