Happened today

Bruised and shredded knee
Bruised ribs
Bruised and battered pride

And my poor bike it's only 4 months old if that

Note to novice motorcycle riders - don't go out when it's freezing especially if it's not important (like 4 cheap 64gb MicroSD cards) << it's not worth it

I knew HUKD's would be at fault albeit indirectly ;). I'd like to say it's safer on 4 wheels but a few years back my car decided to slide down a hill into a van, My speedo stated I was doing 0mph lol it was out of my control.

I remember I seen this guy fall off his bike and they both span around about 20 times each down an hill, I couldn't believe it when he stood up, dusted himself down and rode off lol.

Main thing is you're ok, your bikes replaceable.

Of course I stood up and dusted myself down, checked for broken bones, limped a little whilst biting my bottom lip
I've got a good pain threshold (except teeth and eyes)

I once stuck a garden fork through my trainer into my big toe and hobbled around to the front of the shed and shouted "Get the ambulance". The Mrs (now deceased) said "I'm making it" (meaning she's making a cuppa) - I repeated then she realised
After making said phone call she comes out to me and said "Which foot is it"
I replied "The one with the fork in it!"

Such fun

My goodness hope your knee heals quick, just so glad that there were no vehicles close behind or I dread to think how much worse it could have been.
Thinking about your legs... please buy yourself some sturdy biker leather trousers - that way at least you can have a little more protection! Speedy recovery!

Bummer. So long as you're ok-ish, the bike can be repaired / replaced.

Be careful out there.

PCSO Kelly (won't give last name) walking at 36secs

Big thanks to Kelly for her kind support and assistance and the taxi driver who asked if I was OK

Impressed you got straight back up! Guess it's quite scratched. Is it still working? How did you get home?

Hope you're all ok but still, going out riding in this weather you're asking for trouble.

I only went out for some shopping and to check on a possible bargain and then was going to visit my dad but I thought it's a bit cold so I'll head to the shops then go home and phone my dad

Well I called him but only to tell him I can't come up for a few days and why... he said "Well I don't know why you bothered in this weather anyway" lol

Yep I found trouble ;) and it wasn't even female!!! - just some hard tarmac with a shiny polished finish ;)

PCSO said she watched me and stated I wasn't even going fast (until I hit the hard stuff)

Ye I came off my bike a few years back, only a 125cc at the time but I was only riding about 5mph out my road and black ice just made the bike go and it fell on top of my right leg, 5mph and my leg was sore for days. Speedy recovery dude!

Did you at least get a date from the nice police lady ? ;)

The pavements were icy here on Friday morning

Too much front brake was the cause there i'd say phil, remember to use more back than front in slippery conditions, done it myself last year - luckily at a low enough speed to only damage my pride, found some black ice last week on my scoot felt the bike slither for a few feet but it felt like a few hundred, it was one of those moments where time seems to slow down and everything goes slow mo.

Only popped on hukd to check tesco deals before I leave in a few minutes on my trusty steed and saw this thread, dont know whether thats a good or bad thing.

The way the road was shining in your vid from the begining without any info I could tell what was going to go down though and it happened to be you.

I was thinking about them but thought it's a PCX (scooter) so offers more protection than a normal motorbike and because I only use the PCX 2 times a week, at most, it was at the time an unnecessary expense

I've learned a hard lesson but I can hack the pain/discomfort - it's my pride n joy - I've no need to get it pressure washed and polished now. It was looking brand new - pristine - showroom condition - people admired it because of the shininess/condition...... not now boo hoo

But yes it's repairable more than me

The Honda PCX has advanced braking system (combined) - when you pull on the front brake it also engages the back (probably not as efficient as manual but it's there)
There was nothing I could of done - it was black ice - I had to slow (brake) for the lights changing and wasn't doing more than 30mph - even the PCSO was shocked when it went

Ouch
Hope he recovered 100%
I think I got off rather well considering

I can either put it down to dad's Christmas Dinner (causing excess padding) or would it sound better if I said it was down to my military training (quick reactions, survival mode - push or let the bike go and slide on your back) I have a very particular set of skills ;)

Then how did I scrape and bang my knee? <<<fail

This is one reason I use 4 wheels.. I've done a 360 in a Agila on a patch of ice at about 10 mph, luckily I managed to miss any other cars etc.. Hopefully both you and your bike make a full recovery.

Me - I just need some TLC+ (not going to stipulate what the + is - I got a short holiday last time I mentioned something (well I think that was the reason)
The PCX - I'm on my third cuppa and haven't got around to pricing up replacement panels etc - it'll wait
