Hi Guys,

We have just moved into out new property on Friday and have taken advantage of the post offices home telephone service as there is no 12 month contract. I have had a look around at the different offers available in my area and created the below table:

Line Rental BB Monthly Cost Connection Total Download
Orange 10.5 6.5 17 0 306 Unlimited
Tesco 11 8 19 0 342 Unlimited
Talk Talk 11.49 6.99 18.48 69.99 402.63 40GB
Plusnet 11.25 11.49 22.74 0 409.32 60GB
Post Office25.5 0 25.5 0 459 Unlimited
o2 9.5 17.5 27 0 486 Unlimited
Virgin 11.99 14 25.99 35.99 503.81 Unlimited
Sky 36.5 0 36.5 39.99 696.99 Unlimited
BT 11.59 27.99 39.58 0 712.44 Unlimited

Orange works out cheaper by a couple of £££ however does anyone have any feedback on any of the comapanys? The cost does play a huge part in it all as money is tight however we dont want to sign a contract and recieve a bad service.

Thanks for your help and suggestions in advance.

HI Nutta, I did the O2 line checker and I am outside of their area hence the high price, was looking for feedback on the cheaper options x

Ok no probs just avoid BT! Slow and expensive

Are you in a cable area? Virgin BB is hard to beat imo. And if you're not in a contract with BT you could have your phone with Virgin.

Edit: It appears that you are from your OP, so I'd say Virgin..........

just remember that the speeds will be upto with the exception of Virgin (assuming you are in their cable exchange). go to sam knows exchange checker and put in your postcode to see if your exchange is llu and pick the one that is.
talk talk is an 18 month contract,
sky usually do 6 months free line rental with deals

Ok, I was really just recommending cable over adsl in general. Not had any dealings with adsl as I can't get a reliable connection where I am so I only know about cable.

I have heard positive comments on both o2 and talktalk though.

As above look on the samknows website to see which services are available in your area. Orange recently handed control of their network back to BT, and BT wholesale services usually suffer from poor speeds in peak times.

Orange are ok, I have their livebox can be fast but can occasionally lose connection for a few minutes for no reason. Avoid Talktalk unless they have improved massively.
