My mobile is asking me for a Restriction Code! I haven't a clue what it could be? can I find this somewhere? Wasn't aware I'd even entered one.

Anything I can do please?

No, it's two years old but I've never been asked the restriction code before!

might of typed in your pocket, will have to take it instore to your service provider to get it removed, providing you have had it from new and know the name of the eprson the mobile was originally registered to. Otherwise try 0000

Dont Try Any Codes, You Only Get 3 Attempts!!!

Is it the PUK code?
#5
Are you trying to use a different networks sim in a phone that was locked to a specific network?
#6
Most default codes are 0000 so you can try that. If that doesn't work then phone your network and ask for your puk. If you still have a problem remove the battery with the phone switched on, then remove the sim and replace the battery without sim. Switch the phone on for 10 mins then put back together again with the sim. Hopefully that should just force the network to update on your phone.

That's pretty much every base covered so if it's still not working then unfortunately your phone is probably knackered.

It means the phone is locked, try a different network simcard in it

You get 3 attempts, and then it asks for your puk which means phoning network. If the puk doesn't work then it's just a matter of replacing the sim.

If it's specifically the phone security pin it's after then you only have the option of trying default codes (usually 0000, 1234, 1111 or 12345) which the network should be able to find for you. If it's been changed and you don't know it then you're pretty much screwed.

Don't try guessing at codes or you'll use up all your attempts,PUK won't solve it,which model of phone is it?
#11
If you can find the make and model I can probably find the default codes easy enough now.

It isn't a default code he/she needs,it's an unlock code

If it's the NUC then the phone is faulty since it doesn't sound like they've put in any other networks sim.

There's no standardisation of names for codes, restriction can mean sim pin or NUC and it's more likely to be the sim pin which means trying the default code or getting the puk from the network.

.

It sounds to me like that is exactly what they have done, had an old phone lying around and decided to try their sim card in it,but we'll know better when OP comes back with further info

Sorry, been out to a kids party!!! It's a Nokia 6300 and it's my work mobile phone but my husband tried putting his sim in it which isn't orange (which the phone is obviously locked to). It's fine when I put my own SIM in so presume I just need to take it somewhere to be unlocked.

Yes,you will just need to take it somewhere to get it unlocked, you wont get a code for it on the net as its a BB5 phone,

Orange could give you the code, though they would probably want to charge you,but maybe worth a try first

Okay, thanks very much for the advice, much appreciated.
