PHONES 4 U EXPERIANCE ! how can they get away with this.

I went to my local store and asked about the best cash back deal they could offer me on a samsung toco, a male assistant said £100 on a 18 month contract. I visited the next day and spoke to the same person and he said it would be £45 a month. I asked if that's the best deal he could offer me and he said yes. I told my wife and she decided to phone an hour later and ask about the same deal, she spoke to a female assistant and she was offered £100 cash back for £35 a month on a 18 month contract. When she went into the store to do the deal she told the assistant about what had happened so she told her manager, the manager came across with the male assistant who had spoken to me and made a joke out of it. He apologised and his manager who I might add was female slapped his wrist and said it would not happen again. They really seemed sincere, the fact that they were grinning from ear to ear and giggling confirmed that. The fact of the matter was they made up stories about he missed a staff brief they had that day and did not know, were as all he had to do was ask someone like the assistant that spoke to my wife did. How can they get away with this is there anything I can do.

The deal was done before anything was mentioned. If it was mentioned before the deal was done they might have said the assistant my wife dealt with made a mistake and apologised for any inconvenience, Who knows ?

I don't think they've done anything wrong. You've asked them for the best they're prepared to offer you, and they've given you an answer each time. The offer may have been better at other times but that doesn't mean they've done anything wrong does it?

If I worked on commission I would try to get the customer to buy the most expensive thing, if I realised they weren't going to go for it I would opt to lose some of my commission in order to get the sale. But they haven't done anything wrong have they?

You asked the best they could offer and they gave you a price, you may not have been happy with the price so tried at a different time and they gave a better offer, I don't see the problem?

I'm sure you're aware that prices change, so unless you can prove that the best they could offer you was different at that exact time then I don't see what you could do? How would you prove it???

any staff/ store that works on commission are generally very pushy and will bend the truth to suit them

its called sales and there is nothing you can do about it

best thing to do is to try other rival stores and see what they are offering and use it to your advantage.....haggle

So tell me this, why should customer A be offered the same deal as customer B but charge them £10 per month more ? I know they are on commission but it is also a buiseness who have employees, and they say they will find you the best possible deals. If they had not done wrong why did they get embarrassed and try to explain their actions !

Why should customer A get the same price as customer B? It's all down to the individual to negotiate the best price they can get from a company. You surely don't expect them to just give you the lowest possible price because you ask for it? You've got to negotiate, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

I don't think there are any laws broken? Just you didn't manage to negotiate a good a price as someone else.

So the moral of this story is don't go to PHONES 4 U because they work off commision and you will not get the best deal they can offer you because the staff are trying to make as much profit out of you as possible to line their own pockets ! UNLESS you happen to find a member of staff who is genuine and not too greedy. Which branch do you work for ?:-D

They can try to change you whatever they like. You have no obligation to buy at any price you don't like.
They haven't broken any laws (bent a few may be), but there nothing you can do about. There a credit crunch going on you know, their trying to make money and the agent you spoke to is trying to up his wage, simple as that...

lets hope they aren't all like that or there will be no more phones 4 u and they wont have a job, then they will look back and say "what could we have done different what went wrong" know what I mean.

mate its not just phones 4u where have you been living are you new to this country?

this happens in every mobile phone shop thats what they do

Oh, I know what you mean. I work for one of the network. I used to have to deal with acc's setup by these company's. They'd give acc's to people who's only proof of ID was a used bus ticket. . .

In this country I am a paying customer and deserve some respect from the shop or shops I am spending my hard earned cash in, at the end of the day this creates jobs in my country and i don't expect the staff to laugh and joke about trying to make more money out of one person than the other regardless how much haggeling you have to do! Do you think this is acceptable ?

Yes I agree, but does it mean depending on what sort of day they are having effects the price of the deal. what i am saying is if he wanted to do a deal he would have negotiated with me and sold a phone, but he point blanked refused and said that's the best he could do when it clearly wasn't. I just think this is a bad way to do business. I know it happens but on this occasion it happened to me, some people don't know this happens so all I am doing is making them aware. :)

Its not just about the contract it was the rudeness of the staff. Why is everyone defending their actions ? Is it ok to be sarcastic and laugh at a customer who has just bought a phone and given them my custom.
