photo editing for kids

Have a canon ixus 400, very happy with it but always just took the compact flash memory card and got pics printed, no editing.

Now want to start editing and changing the pics, so do my kids 12 &10. Have used a CD someone gave me MS Digital image 9. Took quite a while but I have managed some editing with good results.

Question is, should I stick with this or, is there better software that is simpler to follow? Have heard mention of Adobe, is it for beginners? It is only for occasional cropping, enlargements, remove blemishes etc.

Anyone know any really basic sites that can talk you through all the "how to" bits

Thanks guys. Before I download (and get in a muddle!)

can I store all the pics on there after editing or is it still best to store them in my pics instead?

Have not got google mail (thinking about changing to it though...one thing at a time)
Can I use pixmania to send lots of pics to others, albums etc. Did use blueyonder for this bu my guests had to login to them before they were allowed to see them, useless! Need something that can let others view the pics easily. Will pixmania do it?

Would love to do some sort of course on all this, nothing in Warrington Mchester Lpool area...unless of course anybody knows different. I went ot a photo club yrs ago when got new camera. Got a lot of help in using the camera but also unwelcome attention from the resident wierdo's who suggested I model for them...that really did put me off. They can't all be like that

Picaso will let you do all you want, you can store pictures online and on your PC (probably both would be good as you always have a backup).

You will have to open a free google account (and you can add google mail to that later if you wish) all that is needed is your email and a password.

You can share pictures and videos with other people too.

A bit more info here

Picasa Web Albums is the fast and easy way to put your photos online so you can start sharing. Use it with the Picasa software to upload entire albums of high quality photos in a click of the software's "Web Album" button, or use your normal web browser to add pics. Each account gets 1GB (and counting!) of free storage - that's enough to post and share around 4,000 standard resolution photos. Best of all, you and your friends can download your photos at the same high quality to print and enjoy.
