I got home from work to find this deep scratch on my car, the newest and worst in a series of scratches Ive been getting over a couple of years. What do you think this was done with ? ( i think maybe a screw driver? ) How much would this cost to sort out ?

I dont have a clue who the hell keeps scratching my car ? I dont have any problems with anybody and its always only my car done. When i get a scratch I look at the other cars on my road and nothing has been done to them so mine is being targeted my some scumbag/s. I dont think there's any point in reporting it to the police is there ??? Im sure they wont do anything, accept for log the incident, maybe give me a ref number. Plus I wouldnt want to go through my insurance (probably cant anyway, TPFT but wouldnt want to lose NCB if could)

Damm what can I do? my car aint safe on my road but I have to leave it there as I cant drive to work. I got scratches in the past overnight aswell

Ah that is terrible. Some f-in idiots out there. I would inform the police - I know what you are saying about how they probs couldnt do much but I would still report it. I would ask neighbours to keep an eye out too.

Wow thats some scratch!

Looks like its been done with a knife or something!

Can you set-up a webcam recording from your front/back window to catch the sod responsible?

I certainly wouldn't other fixing the scratches until you figure out who is doing it.

Is there no way you could lease a lock up garage or somewhere you could fix CCTV to film your car? Is your car the best on the road?

That definately looks like a screwdriver. People like that are sub-human scum. Give these lot a try. My mate has had similar damage like this repaired very well by guys like this.

Good luck

That's nasty, I was wondering if it might have been an accident if someone had swung their car round and dunted yours with the wing mirror but I can't see it.

Your car looks like it stands out a bit (custom alloys, spoiler, custom rear lights?) that's the only reason I can think of that it's been getting so much abuse. However I've no idea what goes through these people's minds - when I bought my Skoda Octavia I deliberately went for one that didn't stand out at all, no alloys bodykit etc. However someone still slammed the wingmirror off (along with every other one on the road) and also smacked the top of the windscreen leaving me a lovely crack.

There's not much you can do really, I had the same dilemma particularly when my car was being broken into but there's just nothing I could really do. I have a slightly more flashy car at the moment and I worry about it even more...going away for two weeks and have to leave the car in a security car park which I'm worried about.

Hope you get it sorted, I know I'd be gutted if I found my car like that - wish I could give you some useful advice.

Tomorrow Im going to try and find out if there are any garages available to lease as there are some garages not too far away from me, although I doubt they would be available or expect they could be costly (I really dont have a clue though).

CCTV / webcam would be good, might think about it, only problem is i might not always get the same parking spot and there is also a primary school across the road, thinking about it that shouldnt really matter should it, if camera is facing my car ?

In my opinion I would say my car is the 2nd/3rd best on the road. I was considering getting rid of this car and getting a new one for around this time, I changed my mind about a month ago when I got other smaller scratches.

I'll think about reporting it to the police, but last year when some stuff got stolen out of my car, I waited ages in the police station to give them a report and then for them to just give me a ref number and send me on my way. I think by reporting it also my road will go up in the car crime statistics insurance companies use, then creating higher premium next year or having to mention this incident in future when applying for insurance also puts me off aswell.

i got a brand new 13k car straight out thE showroom

sometime later sum1 keyed a large line from door to back

NICE! £600 TO FIX

******S!!!! OBVIOUSLY THE JEALOUSY WAS TOO MUCH

i will be honest

thats f**king disgusting that people do that

see what you can do about catching them - the problem then is you have 2 choices - go through the police and risk getting nothing or go for blood - and risk losing everything

I hate it when others have no respect for other peoples property, I feel bad for you because a mate of mine has a subaru impreza. He doesnt even have the wrx or the wrx-sti, he just has the bog standard subaru impreza estate with alloys on it but he always seems to get it vandalised, even in nice areas. Once he caught the kid that was doing it and the kid was trying to indent "sh!t" into his silver paint. He was mad because he has had it from new but he didnt go violent on the kid, anyway the kid ran but his son knows the kid and they threatened the parents to pay up for damages or else they will face legal action. In the end the parents coughed up the cash but he still gets people wrecking his car.

Set up a wireless camera with the cig lighter as the power supply. V.easy to do and you should get 12+ hours of recording out of it.

Aww no that's a horrible scratch- someone's really put their back into that one :x - I reckon it's a screwdriver too.. Try and get a garage or cctv as you and others have said.. We've had ours damaged a couple of times- it so frustrating because we have a nice car with 22" alloys on it, but my hubby had to work hard to pay for it. I'm at home looking after our two little ones so when some mindless idiot kicks the wing mirror off and causes £400 worth of damage, it hits us hard!

IMO this has not been done with a screwdriver.

Did you have the car parked with this to the road or the pavement???

If it was to the road you might find that it was done with the rear opening doors of a delivery 7.5 ton truck. If it was parked to the pavement it has to be something like a wheelie bin lid as the panel has crumpled, this cannot be done with a screwdriver.

Not having a go but isn't your car parked on the pavement?

Is that outside your own house or is someone getting fed up of it being there.

Anything on your car to annoy the neighbours like a loud stereo or exhaust mods?

Looks like a deliberate attack to me.
#15
Deffo a flat end screwdriver...

Most likely just kids out on the nick and just decided as the car looks nice to give it a scrape.

Personally, I'd get some CCTV on it and pass footage on to the police. If nothing happens from that, then I'd look at the culprits and see if I could find them.

If it happens regular, they're local.

On my side of the street, the parking line goes onto the pavement. So I was parked perfectly normal and not past the parking line on the pavement. Where I parked was about 4-5 doors down from my house. My car is normally either parked outside my house (where damage has happened before, even had my wing mirror kicked off last year) or 4-5 doors up or dpwn from my house.

I dont annoy the neigbours at all, I have a normal exhast and never blare my stereo as I dont want theives trying to steal it, plus, really I just mind my own business and only use stereo when driving.

If I report this to the police, will I then have to mention this when applying for future insurance ?

Nope.

You only need to give details of claims.

that looks like someone has banged into it and scratched it at the same time, has anyone been doing any works beside your garden or that?

Forget about screwdriver issues, that is something heavy and sharp
#19
Yes, that looks like damage from something heavy because of the dents+scratch.

My O/H suggests you could try looking out for a clumsy window cleaner or builder with a large ladder. Check if those window cleaning/building dates coinside with the damage (but hoping it doesn't happen again).

Well near to where my car was parked there is a house with some new people that has work being done to it and has a lot of rubbish outside, furniture. When I parked near the guys which I think are jamacian (I dont know if they living or just working there) before they didnt seem too friendly (i just got that from the way they looked at me, but then this is london) but nothing has been said either way from me or them if I ever walked past them and they're outside.

I live on a hill, in the morning when I went to work there was a big wheelie bin full of junk on a side road which is down the the hill past my car, looks really heavy with everything in there, so I doubt they or who ever would have pushed it up the hill, banged it into my car, but then again...who knows.

Im giving myself a damm headache  trying to think of who it could be, or ways to prevent this stuff happeing in the future. Plus Im guessing this will cost at least £200 to fix...and then I heard this morning on GMTV.....today is suposed to be the happiest day of the year..lol..aww my head

oh yeah, other cars are left alone.
