Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help.....

I'm looking at buying a house that has a wonderful view out over fields from its kitchen.
Basically I'm uprooting and moving three hundred miles away, so I've got to get this right.

Does anyone know if there is a way to find out if planning permission has been applied for on the plot behind my dream house ?

Thanks in advance.

I'll give that a bash cheers, although I was hoping for a quick "on line" fix to satisfy my curiosity !

some councils are putting the planning applications online soon, so maybe check the online site ?

My local town council has all the latest planning info on it, which anyone can view. So I'd say its worth checking the local councils website. You might need to know the postcode too.

Birmingham City Council have all the planning permissions on their website. Maybe the local council there will. Which council is it?

You solicitor's search should hopefully provide this info. Hopefully.....

Bradford, Leeds and Newcastle have them all on their websites aswell.

blackpool and fylde aswel so worth a look
not that i expect ur nice sounding house to be in blackpool, there isnt many nice views left, just thought if quite a few councils have their planning permissions online it shows a good chance that the council your interested in will 2

and good luck with the move, im not sure id have the guts to move that far unless i was moving close to friends/family

Sorry all, I've been scanning through the council website as advised !
Cant seem to find anything on there, but I want to be 100% certain.

I'll call the planning ofice tomorrow to see if they know anything.

@tallpete...... at what stage would the solicitors do this search ?

Cheers

Rep left for you guys :)

The other thing you also need to do, is to speak to a planning officer about the land, and how likely that permission could be granted in the next 5/10 years or so is.I'd also spend a couple of pound on finding out the owner from the land registry, and possibly even speaking to him to see what his plans are.

Sound advice !

What sort of money are we talking about though, a couple of hundred ?

I think it is £1. It is to find the owner of a house anyway. Should be able to get it off Land Registry site, think it's a little trickier to find a field than a house though.

The search would go ahead once you ask your solicitor to do so - usually after the vendor has accepted an offer and the wheels are in motion. If it finds anything dodgy then you could pull out or re-negotiaite well before exchange of contracts.

I'm sure the fella wont have to be too brave, and anyway, would you want to leave all your family behind ?

Blackpool is on the coast, so it can't be that bad........ can it ? :?

it has the potential to be really great
unfortunately blackpool council keep screwing it over
no1 goes on the beach, and most of the tourist stuff is tacky. the residential areas arent too bad, some parts are nice

if i left id miss my mum, dad n nanna, but other than that, wer not a very close family, so as long as I saw them fairly often, i wouldnt mind too much
