thanks anewman, they do it for 14.99, but their solutions costs 29.00 with rental just for 2 ltr. I would need more than that. Any other cheaper solutions/detergent i can use with this?

never used the rug doctor but i hear it is good. There are detergetns you can buy from the shop but they are pricey

Just did a quick google and if you have a look at HSS Hire they have £15 off (over £40) if you reserve on line.... might be worth checking out
this might help too from MSE:

Will these things get grubby old marks out of a cream carpet? how good are they and are they better then a bit of elbow grease and a soapy sponge?

We have cream carpet with 3 kids and ours gets terrible, before I bought my Vax, I used carpet cleaner in hot water and a scrubber and did the whole floor on my hand and knees. It looked fab.

My Vax is great, but sometimes fails to suck all the water up, so I rented a Rug Doctor, very heavy, Did the job. But I still prefer how it looked after scrubbing it myself. I don't rate them that much due to cost and the fact I already own a vax.

I keep looking at getting someone in Professionally to do it for about £40. Jobs done for you then

they better than most of Vax wet hoovers. What I've done last time when rented Rug Doctor (cream carpet) I've bought at Tesco some Vanish Stain Remover Liquid (£1 ish for 1 litre) and Vizz Fabric stain remover 3 in 1. I mixed them together probably half to half and done job excellent. Vizz was also good as a pre wash for nasty stains. Remember to use hot water with Rug Doctor. Non commercial Rug Doctors (blue ones) - arround £250 to buy from their site... Good luck
