Plasma TV's - Burn Out

Does anyone know if newer plasma TV's burn out on the screen?

Not sure if this is the correct terminology, but sometimes i listen to radio stations from my TV so the picture is the same for for quite a long period of time (hours).

I have been changing channels now just to break up the projected picture, but just wanted to know if i have to do this.

Its a Samsung 5 series, if that makes a difference.

It'd be rare for a plasma to get permanent burn-in, much more common is image retention which is what you'll get if you leave a static image on screen for a while, it does fade though. I always seem to have the cartoon network logo retained in the corner as it is on that much.

About time the TV companies faced a lawsuit. What moron does not now which channel they are watching when it appears in epg/ etc.

honestly, I work in a small Currys Digital (yes you all hate me now and think I know stuff all...)

but every day we hear this sorta thing about plasma TVs

They leak gas
they need to be regassed
they 'go off' after 2 years
they catch fire
they 'burn'
you cant play Xbox on them
they use too much electricity
they are too heavy
they need to have the colour boosted in them after 3 years (one bloke told me this so vehemently, he almost came to blows with me when I said it wasn't true)
their mate says LCDs are better
they can't be moved (always made me wonder how we got them to the store and then delivered them to customers!!)
the screens are soft
the best one was:

The screens are made of gas and you can't touch them with your hands.

To which I asked "Well what can you touch them with?"
Lady just looked at me blankly, so being a bit of a cheeky lad at times I said "Well if that was true, it'd be correct, cos gas is intangible and you cannot touch it"

Any screen probs can be sorted with "Pixel protector"

Well, not ANY but a few.
Google it.
