I purchased a Samsung 42" Plasma in August of 2009 and over the last 3 days it has developed what looks like 1 stuck pixel (keeps flashing red), in the middle of the screen. I first thought I'd ignore it but it is too distracting.

Can anyone give advice on my rights from the retailer (Richer Sounds) or the manaufacturer or any solution to solve it?

Thank you

EDIT: To add I have tried JScreenfix by hooking up a laptop and letting it run for 20 minutes and nothing, the pixel still flashes between red and black.

I thought I had done my research on plasma's and was really cautious with 'breaking the TV in' in light of screen burn and now this happens.

Samsung carry a zero dead pixel warrenty .. so if you dont get any luck from Richer Sounds then contact Samsung themselves .. I have had a Samsung replaced before for one dead pixel ..

I can understand some manufacturers requiring 2 or 3 'dead' pixels but surely 1 flashing pixel is a fault by anyone's standards?

OP seems unlucky to have got a flashing pixel on a plasma as I thought dead / flashing pixels were rare on these tvs compared to LCDs

Yeah I'd rather have a dead one than a red flashing one! So distracting.

To be honest it's put me off wanting another plasma but I doubt Richer Sounds will exchange it for an LCD.

Limitations do apply to this. Dead pixel policy is mainly for LCD/TFT and not plasma if you look at Samsung tech page. Also the 7 days after purchase apply, after that there are certain conditions that need to be met.

In this case they might send a tech guy out IF you make them understand it affects your viewing (as per their website). Check out this page, more importantly the bottom half of it:

tbh, LCD are far more likely to encounter pixel problems so you were just unlucky but to me it sounds like you have a good case for repair / replacement.

i would give richer sounds a ring & explain to them, we buy a lot of our electronics stuff from them and we had some probs last year when our tv & amp developed probs with the hdmi inputs . richer sounds were really good gave us all the info we needed we spoke to the right people & had everything sorted under guarantees. If you call them they will either sort out themselves (if it is them that have to do it) or they will give you all the info & contact details of who to speak with at manufacturer to get it sorted. mate of our had a prob with his tv from them aswell and when he spoke to them they gave him an exchange for the newer model of his tv as they didn t have any left of the ones he had bought. Their customer service really is very good, they are one of the few companies that seem to want to keep hold of their customers.

It's fixed itself! was playing on ps3 lumines then afterwards on xmb noticed it had gone. So a top tip if anyone has a stuck pixel is play lumines. lol.
