How old are you?

You need to go to a professional for job advise.
Do you have a connections or Jobcentre near you?

Jim, it depends on what you really want to do. You mentioned the Marines in another post.
I spent 12 Years in the RAF and it was the best 12 years of my life.
You are young enough to join the forces, get some good qualifications, travel the world and when you've had enough come out and get a good job in 'Civvy' street.

Go in and have a chat first.

No, I meant a Family member who could guide/advise you?
You are at an age where the opportunities are there for you. It's OK 'chatting' on a forum, but speak to people that know you, who know what you are capable of.

What do YOU want to do and why?
#13
i want to have a life, where il meet the best mates of my life, have a buzz,do aload of crazy things.but i also want to have a good trade behind my back, because im good with my hands,my dads a contractor so i always do joinery with him,hes the one who told me to go on a course, the money is amazing too.

i gues its a choice, but at the moment i want to go in the services,i dont think id put my mum through hell by goin in the marines, really upsets her.she be happpy with me goin in as a diver, because she knows i love that stuff and its safer
#14
Can you drive? Any points on your license?
Which Service do you want to be in and why?
#15
im doin lessons nearly finished,no points on my license, not been fined or in court so i can get in,some person i know got refused for getting a fine,he cant apply for 5 years.

i want to go in the navy as a mine clearance diver, something practical it will suit me well.i think the navy can offer me more, traveling around the world,i love the sea.
#16
OK, good luck with your driving lessons.

Right then, the Navy because you like the Sea. Why Mine Clearance? That would upset your Mum I suspect. It's a very dangerous Career. Do you have good qualifications from School?
Do you have a Navy Careers Office near you?
If you go in for a chat they will tell you what 'jobs' are available and if you are qualified for them.

ye i have good grades,i got 15 a-c,5 b's and the rest c's except for 2 d's.

i went to college to do a pre uniformed services course, which prepares you for the services,i do intermediate and advanced,iv gt first aid course, gym instructors,ECDL ict award, all numeracy and key skills.i got team leader awards and all sorts,i raked in alot at college
i know its dangerous but surley its not as dangerous as the marines,iv just sent of for a info pack
#18
It seems to be that you have quite a few good qualifications etc.
Why Mine Clearance?
How about a PTI, you seem qualified or some kind of Electrical or Mechanical trade within the Marines or Navy?
#19
thats my problem i need something really exciting, lol, dont think pti would suit me.you have to be super fit for that,i would have to do alot more training aswell. i was on the navy website today, and was on the mine clearance section and it mentioned they give preference to candidates that have qualification in diver i.e courses and that,so im going to ring the careers office in the morning, and ask which ones there highly rate, then take it from there.it would be a good boost.il post back tomoz and let you know how it went
