Hey,

Just went to register and checkout with Play.com, however on the 2nf from last stage (entering shipping address) i received a site error which asked me to refresh/hit back etc...which I did....not no avail.

So I closed the window figuring it wouldn't register me anyway...and it hasn't. Or has it? heh. Now it seems to be working again I tried to register and it says my email is already been used, but, I try to login and it says incorrect password....and if I try to recover the password it says that there's an error and to check if I entered the correct email address.

That's a pain in the ass but moreover I seemed to have been debited £2 from my debit card. I ordered a £10 item from snapfish and TRIED to order a £2.99 one from Play.com All in all I have been charged £12 (Can't see exact details on statement yet as its just come out of the available balance).

What should I do? Have Play.com charged me? I have received no email confirming an order and I wasn't even at that stage anyway. Should I register with a new email and try again?

Edit: Sorry for the amount of typos. Having to revise madly and lately for AS Law exam tomorrow.

Play.com is a pain in the ass.

It wont let me update my credit card. I might give them a call tommorow.

The service at Play is not the best to say the least.

Well I'm completely the opposite, I think they are an excellent company.
Anyway horses for courses etc.

Never known Play.com debit your account before they dispatch the goods.
What does however happen is that sometimes your credit card will put funds aside for impending purchases.

I'm sure if you give Play a quick ring in the morning they will sort it out for you.

Thanks hottoshop. Had thought of rinigng them but am stupidly busy right now at college (exams...eurgh). I didn't get to a stage where any order is reviewed or confirmed so I don't think they have debited it. I figure I will wait and see after the snapfish transaction has passed through when the available balance should reflect the account balance.

If it turns out to just be an account cock up ill use a different email I guess. Pain in the ass but still.

Yeah I had the same thinng happened with HMV only I didn't notice it. Ended up with 2 accounts and 2 identical orders !!

Happens when the internet or the site you're on slows down and timesout.

They were most unhelpful but I'm sure Play will help you better :)

Yep, I wouldn't care if it was that. This was simple an error message, looked like a replacement 500 message from the lazy styling of it :P A little odd though that I can be registered....but also not registered (i.e. unable to login). A little hard to get my head around as someone to develops these kinds of systems all the time (although not on such a commercial scale but the theory is the same).

Anyhoo, I'll focus on getting past these exams and come back to it :)
