Play.com....Not all that good in my opinion

I said last year that I wouldn't touch Play.com ever again because of being let down last Crimbo
Like a prat I ordered a couple of things 3 weeks ago, both in stock, paid for, accepted....3 to 5 days estimated delivery....NO PROBLEM !

Sitting here today 3 weeks later and still waiting, one item showing as "awaiting stock", the other showing as "order taken", but nothing despatched yet....even though it's still showing as in stock....3 CHUFFING WEEKS !!!

What a crock this company is and has anyone ever tried to get in touch with this shower ....no email, it has to be an 0845 number, kept waiting and waiting to them speak to someone in a foreign land to then get through and told utter rubbish

PLAY.COM....YOU CAN STICK EM !!

M&S, Tesco, Boots, HMV all orders placed with them have got here within 5 days so I know who is getting my cash next year !!

I've noticed recently the slow service - last thing I ordered took around 2 weeks to arrive

I'm in the same boat.. awaiting an order since november.. It was out of stock, then came back in stock, they sent it out a week ago.. no sign of it.. pain in the ass.. wish they'd have a proper tracking system like amazon.

+1....i had the same problem last year with prezzies from there so didnt bother with them this year........ordered a few things throughout the year and the delivery times are alot poorer than previous years
#8
I used Play a few years ago, all with no problem, great service...... BUT NOW !!!!

Perhaps it's got too big

personally never had a problem even when i e mailed them a couple of problems they were promptly answered good company for me

never had any problems with play, items that come with the normal post arrive within a few days, items that come in a van take longer but they always arrive. at least you can tell them items haven't arrived with a click of a button, would be tempted to do this for an item if it took longer than a week to arrive

I ordered 2 items on 2nd Nov for a friends xmas present
Both pre orders, but release date got pushed back a week to end of nov, which wasnt a problem

Hadnt heard anything from play, but the items had been removed from their site, no longer for sale (prob cudnt get the stock) so had to ring up and ask yesterday and they just cancelled the order.

Would have been nice for them to let me know not just wait for 6 weeks

Ive noticed they have been very slow recently. I ordered 5 items, all in stock, on friday 4th december and only three of them have been delivered....

Anyone ordering anything now for xmas gifts beware as you might have problems getting them on time

I've only ever had one problem with them, and I've been using them since they were play247. Sorry for your misfortune!

Postage can be slow (no longer than a week), but I've had no problems with them over the years *touches wood*

I have never managed to buy off Play.com. Always the same, not in stock or don't honour their price. WORST online company ever!!!

Have to add my 2 cents on this one. From experience I can tell you that Play are good so long as nothing goes awry. If things go wrong with an order then that is where the fun and games begin, as Play.com have possibly the worst customer service department known to man. It's like they just don't give a damn... and yet somehow, quite inexplicably they have managed to win customer service awards from consumer magazine 'Which'!!! I kid you not!! Yes, so unbelievable is this, that I fear tomorrow I will turn on the TV only to be greeted with the news that 'Big Foot' really does exist. :o

Without going into too much detail (I'd be here all day), when they sent the wrong item (their error NOT mine), they ignored all requests I made to return the item for the correct one using the internal website contact system. After 6 or so attempts over 2 weeks, I gave up and emailed them directly, stating that I would be contacting my credit card company over the matter. Lo and behold, like magic the matter was solved almost immediately! There is still the small matter of the return postage fee (they insisted on recorded delivery) which they short changed me on. Small change, but out of principle I will keep hassling them indefinitely if need be.

BTW, for anyone wanting to email their customer care department their email address is:
[email protected].
From personal experience I can confirm that this is a monitored mailbox, so if you get no reply I can only guess that they are deliberately picking and choosing which queries to answer. Good luck.

I would hardly call Guernsey a foreign land!

Or even Jersey!

Well never had any problems and have been using them for over 10 years (play247), back in the day they used to hand write the addresses! My only quibble now with them is they ship many items in there retail packaging so is covered in stickers, scuffed or bashed box so no goo for a present. I guess they will claim cutting shipping costs or lowering their carbon foot print!

Are you sure as I was confident I read somewhere that Jersey was adopting the EU (or UK sale of goods act so play.com moved to Guernsey?

Personally, I wouldnt dream of buying high value goods from play.com as they only give you a 28 day warranty with all items (then you are on your own with the manufacturer). :w00t:

Well, I have cancelled my orders and off out today to try and do it the old fashioned way....by foot around the shops full of mad crazy people....OHH the good old days !!
I was spoke to 3 people yesterday (my sister, and 2 friends) and they mentioned xmas and I went off on one about Play.com letting me down AGAIN and all 3 said that in the past 4 days they have cancelled their orders also and all 3 mentioned their appalling customer service and lack of stock.....they seem to hook you with all of these "Special offers", you know the ones which undercut everyone else...but they are special offers they haven't got
PLAY.COM ARE REALLY NOT WORTH IT !!

Canceled all of my orders with Play as they were "awaiting" stock....they were in stock when I ordered them over 3 weeks ago

Re-ordered them off other companies and within 2 days they were all delivered

Play.com on facebook is inundated with disgruntled customers....My guess is that this time next year play.com won't exist

I'm still waiting for several things I ordered as Christmas presents, and I can't do a thing about any of them. They're all dispatched according to Play, one as early as 14th December, and they won't do anything about it until at least 21 days after posting. So I can't cancel the orders, and I can't just order them from anywhere else because Play have my money (and the goods might still turn up after Christmas).

The weather's been bad, but no other online orders have failed to arrive.

I've been using them since they were Play247 but I guess it's time to stop. Shame.

owned ordered a shirt from them other day, same day i bought a blu ray from amazon and paid from first class as i needed it for xmas day, but they both turned up today. Play have very rarely fallen thru for me, only two occasions
#32
used them for a while now and never any problem but i do notice there service is a little slower than used to be.
#33
i blame the internet

I went on to play.com to buy an Irish rugby jersey. It was advertised on the site for €29.99 yet once it went into the cart it was €74.49 I got in contact with their customer service to bring it to their attention After a few emails back and forth it was amended and i purchased it. This was on the 15th of April. Now, eight days later on the 23rd i get a mail sating that the item is no longer available? This is an extremely bad way of treating customers and is extremely bad on play.com’s part
