Hey,

Can you store High definition / Bluray files on for example a 16gb usb stick and playback on a PS3? Wasn't sure if this would require a larger portable hard drive.

Thanks but, I wasn't sure if the USB sticks had a fast enough read rate or so to allow proper playback of these type of files from the PS3?

my corsair 8gig gt can tx (eg have files read at 32 meg a second) it depends also on the EHCI of host usb.

You can if you split it into 4gb sections.....

As jtx said, use mkv2vob free program, and convert the mkv file to mpg, and tick the split into fat32 file box. I've been playing them on my usb stick for years.

its easier just to transfer the whole file over the network to your ps3 HDD

Thanks guys I could split them into 4gb sections but souljacket I never thought about transferring the files to the PS3 HDD over network. Can anyone give me an idea which program would be best for doing this?

I tried a while back actually steaming the files over the network (but it turned out choppy) but you mean actually transferring the files to the hard drive of the PS3 with these programs right? :) Had no idea they could do that

Only issue remains is surely the file size limit of 4gb still applies?
