Wouldn't it be easier and better in the long run to sort out the CD/DVD Drive?

Head Over to www.gamecopyworld.com, select a mirror, then select PC Games on the right hand side (about half way down the page), find your game and download the No-CD crack for it

Note though that some games do not like NO-CD cracks, in which case you would be better with a virtual drive for the disk instead.

To try and fix the DVD drive not appearing:
If you are running Vista, take a look at this Mircosoft Help & Support article I used the manual method to sort an identical (or what appears to be) problem with a computer over Christmas.
Although it talks of XP, the same is true for Vista, take a look here

Hope that helps.

Play Instructions:

* Install the game - Full Installation.
* Replace the original SIMS2SP8.EXE file with the one from the File Archive.
* Play the Game!
That is all it says, nothing about downloading,

how do i get a virtual drive?

Click the little Disk icon above that to download the file. Then browse to your Sims directory and rename the SIMS2SP8.EXE to OLD_SIMS2SP8.EXE and put the one you just downloaded in it's place.

have a look at gamecopyworld they do patches so you don't need the disk but lots of PC games these days require real loops to jump through to avoid using the disk in an event to prevent the ease of duplication of PC games.

Just download a CD/DVD drive emulator. I think the one I have installed at home is called deamontools. You may need the cd/dvd iso on your harddrive, not too sure. Worth a try tho.

Not sure this forum is meant to be used to advise people how to crack games? Next we'll be advising people on how to shop lift. :(

Some games are programmed to stop working if you use patches or pirate copies. The reason they make you use the disk is so you dont just pass the disk onto 5-6 mates and they lose 5-6 sales.

If the drive wasnt working I am glad you got it fixed.
