SO true, as a media centre it excels, particularly as i now have a bluray burner. But as a gaming system, it's a distant second.

Multiplatform games never run as well as the 360 versions
online is poor
very slow downloads of things
voice chat is poorly implemented
extremely tedious forced installation of some games
trophys are a poor mans achievements and only available in some games

as the other fella says, its a better media centre than the the 360 but not a better games console, im lucky enough to have both but the ps3 see very little action on the gaming front, ill buy the 360 all day long over the ps3 one.
#8
Beware, ps3 fanboys (usually asleep at these times) will wake to find this and they aint gonna be happy.
#9
PS3 fanboys are people who have never played a 360 ! ive yet to meet someone who has both and prefers the ps3, sad fact
#10
I have a ps3. Really happy with the online gameplay and never use the online chat utility.

Do agree about the long downloads though, frustrates me quite a bit at times. Isn't there some kind of pojnts system on the 360? That sounds kinda cool but i'm bot bothered about trophies anyway.

Overall, i've played on both and would still choose the PS3 over 360. Just my opinion thats all.

Everyone knows someone who has had a broken 360 right?
#11
i do because ive had one !, no chance of my ps3 ever overheating though because its never on long enough lol

Which games exactly? most multiplatform games are ports from Ex-box 360 versions which in theory should drag the PS3 back, but on most multi platforms the PS3 comes out better.
and heres a funny thing, the Ex-Box 360 actually hinders the PS3, for example GTA4, the game had to be massively downsized to cater for the Ex-box's cruddy DVD storage capacity and cruddy performance, therefore the PS3 couldn't show us what it was really made of, i mean Ex-box still using DVD's and disc trays, thats so old lol. and PS3 has many great exclusives and this year it will have so many more great ones like Killzone 2, Littlebigplanet, Gran Turismo, MAG, Metal Gear Solid 4, the list is much bigger but i will sleep soon

very slow downloads of things

nope, the PS3 downloads things faster than anything in my house, i suggest you improve your connectivity. the PS3's performance is clearly better so there is no reason why it would be slower other than user setbacks

voice chat is poorly implemented

baring in mind its a free service, its not so bad and is getting improved all the time. at least with the PS3 there are not twenty 10 year old kids screaming on COD4 always. i prefer the less crappy noise :)

extremely tedious forced installation of some games

erm do you know why they do this? so that the game will run much faster than normal as it has easier access to data. this is not a drawback, this is a better thing that the Ex-Box

trophys are a poor mans achievements and only available in some games

Trophies are mandatory on PS3 games now, read some news
achievements are the same as trophies, just a different packaging, i dont care about non-existent trophies anyway, and whoever does should get a life

as the other fella says, its a better media centre than the the 360 but not a better games console, im lucky enough to have both but the ps3 see very little action on the gaming front, ill buy the 360 all day long over the ps3 one
.

Ex-box is the loser in every part, to upgrade it to PS3 standards costs way more than a PS3, its media is worse. have to pay for online, i could go on but everybody already knows this. peace

*rises to the bait*

you dont half talk a load of flannel mate, tell me about all these multiplatform games that perform better on the ps3 then ? orange box? oblivion ? fallout 3? gta? resi 5? lol

They had to massively cutback GTA 4 did they? rubbish.

Ill tell you why they have to install games, because the bluray drive is so slow it takes an age to load anything off these amazing bluray disc you seem to love.

most of the back catalogue dont have trophys, the achievements on 360 are better and easier to view, you want to view your trophies and it has to 'synch' for five minutes lol.

the download speeds are cack, nothing wrong with my connection,

glad you prefer the silence of the chat in ps3 by the way, really pleased for you lol, nice work with the 'ex box' bit though, really clever :)
#15
lol....i had a 360 for about 3 year....then my warrenty ran out after swapping 4 360's i didnt wanna end upo with a brick so i swapped a ps3, never thought id like it more...but i do....yeah loading and installation can be a pain but so far thats all i find any different.....online on cod is the same for me on both consoles, i dont use online on any other game so i cant comment....anyway i dont get the fanboys, its down to choice at the end of the day....
#16
plus yeah i never got addicted to the achievment thing....
#17
Just to add a little something to the pot: Killzone 2 online is rubbish.

i'm not going to go around and get all the links for you because it would take ages and is pointless
the differences between the two are mostly extremely small to recognise, i mean from most screenshots, you would say they are from the same console. well yes games like GTA have been reviewed and shown that the PS3 version is better, check out IGN's review about it
yes they had to cut back GTA4 for the PS3 because of the Xbox which is a pain in the ass. like i said, it was mostly about the disc size (extremely small on Xbox's DVD drive) and performance
this has annoyed most PS3 users who could have got a better game if it wasn't for Microsoft and their mountains of money, should have stayed a PS3 exclusive

Ill tell you why they have to install games, because the bluray drive is so slow it takes an age to load anything off these amazing bluray disc you seem to love.

Blu Ray is the new media technology, it kicked HD DVD into the ground and is going to become even better with larger disc capacities which could soon reach Terabyte level.
it wouldn't take off if it was too slow, it runs fine considering it produces much more detail than DVD.
i find the PS3 speeds to be fine

like i said already, who cares about Trophies? they don't improve a game, if you buy a game just for those then its sad. nobody cares about achievements too, it doesnt get you a better car or house. and it takes seconds to sync trophies, where are you getting "5 minutes" from? probably the bad connection you have again

the download speeds are cack, nothing wrong with my connection,

wrong, sort out your wireless. im on wireless and like i said, its the fastest in the house, if its wired then you are laughing

glad you prefer the silence of the chat in ps3 by the way, really pleased for you lol, nice work with the 'ex box' bit though, really clever :)

Silence, thats another good point, hows your jet? lol

About a month ago I left my PS3 on for a whole week without turning it off.

Why did I do that?

Because I can. You can't do that with a tree sixty without it breaking.

But anyway, I never have time to play on the PS3 anymore. I'm too busy earning money and clubbing VIP style.

Easy for you to say the Playstation Home is rubbish when the Xbox has no such thing
#21
I have a PS3 and 360. I prefer the PS3 as it was much more ready out the box (WI-FI, rechargeable controllers, free online gaming). I also love the blu-ray. From what I read there are very few differences between the multi-platform games. I also hate to say it but I much prefer the PS3 games catalogue (Motorstorm, MGS4, Little Big Planet, Buzz, Formula 1, Uncharted, Singstar and Heavenly Sword - well kinda).

Saying that I have gta4 on my 360 and playing that online is amazing.
#22
Its rubbish because Playstation home is for geeks and freaks and not the good or hip ones - the ones who play world of warcraft and get married online and in real life

If you think its rubbish dont worry youre just normal - now go buy yourself an xbox 360

Lol, I'm lucky enough to have all three systems (plus a dead 360!) and since having the PS3 the poor 360 has just been gathering dust, when I get round to switching it on (for old times sake..) I keep thinking the other half's doing the hoovering, its good but once you've tried both you know which one's really won the war...
#24
PS3 fanboys - The KFC is a PS3 fan.

The 360 therefore wins by default.

lol
#25
I love my PS3 as it's a cracking blu-ray player and it's easy to update the firmware. But as a games console it doesn't match up to my 360.
#26
my mate bought a 360 then a ps3 then sold the ps3 cos it ****

I'm with you on the in-environment costs for virtual furniture & clothing etc, but it sounds like you have an issue with your connection. Granted I don't visit the PlayStation(r) Home (Beta) universe regularly but I have been online for hours without any issues. (I was last there 8 days ago & stayed online for well over an hour without any connection woes).

Do you connect to your Internet Service Provider via a Router? Maybe check the firewall settings & if you have a log file see if any ports are being blocked whilst your are logged-in. Opening these (for the duration of usage of 'Home') may improve the situation.

BFN,

fp.

PS. When you are disconnected abnormally can you use the PS3 web browser & the PlayStation Store without any problem?
#28
i dont understnad why ppl prefer 360....achievments are naff IMHO ....yeah some games like GOW Halo etc is a factor for some which i can understand. But the rest i dont get. The PS3 offers blu ray, an excelent media player, i watch all my dl films thru it etc... games play the same for me, i.e i had fifa 09 and cod wow on both consoles and see no difference.
#29
blah blah blah blah, I've got the biggest...... same old pack of poo!
#30
The ps3 is an amazing piece of kit and I use mine for HD movies, music etc.

But as a games machine, the 360 knocks it into a cocked hat.

i was happy with my 360 till i got the ps3 but for playing my games they were exactly the same for me....

one thing i didnt like about the 360 was multiplayer was always online....hardly any games were made for local multi....

but to me they are the same but ps3 wins cos of the media player....

saying that, my brother has had 7 360's and he would rather buy 6 360s than 1 ps3....but its cos all of his friends play 360 online and he is on there 24/7....so i guess it just depends on what sort of gamer u are
#32
What a stupid argument why do you lot waste your time arguing about which is better?

Besides we all know the xbox 360 is!:-D

I actually bought my 360 2006 and Ive never had a problem as long as Ive had it, saying that guess im just lucky

Just a quick note on what Dark Knight said on page 1 about the Xbox hindering PS3's GTA 4, just a quote from a link I found:
"Rockstar product development VP Jeronimo Barerra has revealed that technical issues with the PS3 were partly to blame for last fall's delay of Rockstar North's Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3, X360).
"It's really no surprise to anybody that the PS3 was definitely a contributing factor to that," Barerra told MTV"

DVD - Max 8.54Gb for a single sided dual layer
Blu Ray - 50GB for a single sided dual layer (up to Terabyte technology on its way)

This is only one reason why Xbox holds back quality multiplatform games for PS3

it doesn't matter what you say. Blu Ray is a better choice, and thats only part of the whole winning set up. there are so many better things with the PS3, and every time someone says Xbox is better i just laugh at their ignorance and lack of intelligence
#35
I assume these arguments will be running for ever more.
Personally as long as you are enjoying playing your games who gives a fig what console its on.
#36
The fact of the matter is no game has ever filled the 8.5 gig on a dual layer dvd, with the exception of rpgs with a lot of fmv, suggesting the 360 is 'holding back' the ps3 because it uses DVD is one of the most laughable arguments ive ever heard on the matter, and this is where my discussion ends lol.

Same none of my 360s have ever been RROD. My frst xbox got rid of it cos it got banned, second one got rid of it for a hdmi, hdmi one got banned lol, then i got a normal one, then got my elite. None of these xbox's suffered any problems.

My ps3 doesnt do nothing, gets used for web browsing and the odd few demo , and the only game i have which is time crisis 4.
