Not a bad price if you ask me.

That's why the early Amazon pre-order was so reasonable then, I got a pre-order with them at £59.99.

It was rumoured to cost £99 back a few months ago.

That's a fantastic price for a twin HD tuner, well glad I got my Sony Bravia recently - and my PS3 is already my main media centre with upscaling, games and blu-rays.

Still showing as this at Amazon:

"Dispatch estimate: 3 Nov 2008 - 4 Nov 2008
Delivery estimate: 6 Nov 2008 - 13 Nov 2008"

Not a bad RRP, im sure we will be able to find it less then that with codes + quidco etc.

Its like half the price of a HD freeview box but with better quality and features (but also uses more power due to PS3).

Tbh although this is a good idea i dont see the point of buying it unless it can receive high def broadcasts

I suppose BBC HD and ITV HD don't count?

Wish I had mine now so I could watch the olympics in HD.

ok thats good at least its future proof wonder what the quality of the signal will be for standard def as ive got a freeview recorder that looks awful on my hd tv

Only way to get them atm without sky hd is freesat but thats a con on its own as you have to buy a new box and the sat dish costing you like £150 min
Freesat is the biggest con in the world its basically freeview but with a diff name

So I can't tune into BBC HD and ITV HD straight out of the box using the PlayTV?

no lol - the signal hasnt been switched on to broadcast high def on the freeview signal
Thats all happening in 2009

I can see hd signals being really pants at first through your aerial but i think as will standard def it will improve over time
I mean why should we have to pay the premium for bbc hd when we are paying for it anyways

oh well, cheers for the info dandoc.

You will still have to wait for the analogue signal to be turned off before you can get hd. So I, like many others, will have to wait 5 years before it will work in HD. Only good it will be till then is an up scaling power hungry pvr.

Looks good.
Probably worth getting once there are more free HD channels :)
#22
good idea,

is there anyway of using the sky satellite feed to grab hd channels?

I have a preorder from Amazon for £59.99 - they have now updated the delivery date to 25th Sept-1st Oct, to reflect the new release date I suppose.

Best price around now is probably GAME - with a £3 voucher, Quidco (only 3%) and reward points, the total effective price is about £61.58 - not bad I reckon.........

............but then you have to add on the price of a larger HD too......:whistling:
