I have just booked a return flight for me and my family to france in july, and on my booking form i have spelt my name different to what it says on my passport, just out of habbie. i spell my name tammie, but really spelt tammy. i dont know what to do now as its saying it costs £100 to change your name, and obviously i dont want to pay this??its with ryan air and only booked today?is it a big deal?do you think they will just correct without the £100 fee or shall i take my chances as i have to self check in anyway or if all else fails when printing out my booking form try and change my name on it?
any help is gratefully received!!

its ryanair-they will want the money im afraid-they always do-that why I always check, double check and triple check everything before clicking confirm.

some airlines may be sympathetic to your mistake-ryanair wont.

Unlikely to make any difference with a first name.

you clearly dont know ryanair then-they scrutinise EVERYTHING,in an effort to screw more money out of you.EXACT name has to match the passport or they make you pay-end of story.

i wish it was going to be that simple, i think i would rather change my name and get a new passport than pay them any more money!!

I dont know why, but I have no sympathy for you whatsoever. You forgot to spell your name correctly despite the warnings about the need to spell your name correctly. Pi55 poor!

Phone them up and give it a go.
I had that trouble before but with an idiot that booked them for me through a travel agent.
Spelled my name out for them and the dafty behind the desk had it wrong when the tickets got sent through the email.

Travel agent wanted to charge me a fortune to change it, i phoned up Ryanair, and some banter with the Irish girl on the phone and it was changed in no time for free.
Think their change of name fees more apply for changing names of people going on the trip so someone else can go.

Phone them up and give it a go, good luck trying to get through atm tho lol.
Also they will be losing loads of money with the Volcano, they the could be more awkward than when i done it.

Ring them up and ask them to change it for you. Something similar happened to me before where I spelt another persons name the wrong way and the customer service guy was very nice on the phone and changed it for me without any hassle. And before you ask, yes it was Ryanair. They're not as bad as people make out, you just have to play the game their way and avoid all the taxes and charges.

spend hours seeking advice on a shopping forum or spend 5 minutes on the phone.

Hmmm, tough choice there!

My name was spelt wrong on a flight to Turkey (can't remember the airline though), and I went through fine on the day. They didn't even bother changing it on the boarding pass.

And I've just flown Jet2 and I was down as a Mr and not a Miss, and that was fine also so you might be ok on the day.

I did ring and check with Jet2 though and they said to just leave it.

i do love posts like this :) where people would post the most random of questions on a forum designed for saving some money.
i suggest as none of us work for ryanair you give them a call and see what they say.
+ in the future read the small print and dont spell your name wrong.

I have not asked anything really unusual i dont think??well as there are thousands of members on here and we all try to help each other out, i thought somebody might know, or maybe a long shot someone might even work/worked for ryan air!

I have just got off the phone to them after 50 minutes and they have amended free of charge so that is a relief!I am guessing writing your name wrong is in the very large print lol
