I broke my knee last week and have been waiting for the good old NHS to give me a wheelchair so that I can get out and about. Seems pretty simple? Not at all. Its proven to be a complete nightmare. I have been passed from pillar to post on my quest for mobility!!

If there is anyone out there in the Harworth, Tickhill,Bawtry, Doncaster, Retford, Worksop areas that can help me by loaning a wheelchair to me for 6-7 weeks, I would be eternally grateful.

Many thanks in advance

Does your local authority not have a specific team for this? I work for ICES team for my local authority and we specialise in loaning out wheelchairs and other equipment, so im just wondering whether theres not a team like mine where you live? Look for the Community Equipment Services and see if they have one in your town x

I tore a calf muscle a couple of years ago and couldn't walk for a month or so. My GP gave me the phone no. of our local mobility equipment centre and they rented me a wheelchair for £5 a week. If there is no community equipment service like the one missgem refers to could you ask someone at your health centre or CAB to see if there is a local facility.

Thanks patience. I have contacted the red cross who need a £20 deposit and a donation, or a local charity that hires them out for £5 per week

Thanks for the help
