Hi, I really need help and stuck with a problem. Not sure how to go about it.

I sold a DVD box set, it was brand new immac condition, not sealed. I put it on ebay and a user emailed me and offered less. I agreed and sold it. All completed officially through ebay and he paid by paypal.

I wrapped the item twice over with thick bubble wrap and then covered it with a bag. It was packaged very well and the DVD box set is hard cardboard and well solid.

I post immed and he gets the boxset within 24 hours. Parcel force 24hrs recorded and insured for the correct amount. The buyer sent a moody email saying I should have sent it by royal mail as his at work at the depot is only few miles away, where parcel force is 45 mins away. How on earth would I know this!

Now he send me this email on getting the item:
"The presentation box is in damaged and ripped condition, which could not have been caused by transit!. In your auction description you mention the boxset is new and do not mention any damage to the presntation box, this is the part which makes the set limited edition more expensive than its contents alone. I look forward to your response!"

Now..... what on earth do I do. I have been on ebay for about four years 100% feedback selling over 200 items. Please please please any advice or how to act on this?

Really dont want to get negative feedback.

Many thanks in advance.

I take it from what you say you didn't put photo's on?

First of all email & ask him/her for a few pictures of the damage .. IF they are sent you will be able to make a claim with RM .. Offer a part refund to avoid negative feedback.
#3
Yeah, I normally do but have had problems latelly with my cam...... wish I blimin did now :(

Really think his pulling a fast one. That boxset was over done wrapped.

Hi there,
I would offer him a refund on return of the item. If needs be even refund his return postage. I know its a bummer but your main priority has to be to protect the fedback you have built up. Ask him what he would like you to do to rectify the situation. He may just be after some cash off. If thats the case then I would push for him leaving you positive first then partial refund when thats done.
Just a case of trying to salvage something from the deal.

Ignore his emails until he opens an official dispute. Don't get into a war of words with him.
If/when the dispute is opened just state your case as best you can, indicate your feedback (and his, which will hopefully be quite low). eBay aren't stupid, they will see from your feedback that you're not a dodgy seller.

File a claim with the parcel force, do not give a refund until you have it.
Parcel Force will need details from both of you ( and I just hope that when
he has to take photos and get involved he realises that it's not worth lying OR
that he is telling the truth and parcel force pay up and everybody is happy! )

IMO DONT offer a refund-i have been in ebay for years and lately i am getting alkinds of abuse and i really think it's down the the 'i can neg you' feedback rules..

Cool, good advice. Will parcel force def give the full refund? Dont wanna pay him if they dont pay out, and I am left with no money and a broken, ripped DVD boxset....

Thanks again.

I would ask him fo rphotography of all packaging as it is not up to him to say whether it was caused in transit, photos of the item wich clearly shows the damage, dont let him bully you if you have done nothing wrong, hes probably annoyed that he wasnt in to receivee the parcel and had to go to collect 45 miles away - good luck - if he leaves negative feedback you can also
I would talk to him and get the photos sort it out BEFORE any FEEDBACK IS LEFT but also tell him that you will be leaving negative ffedback for him if he does for you

Personally i think that whatever you do this person will neg you. there are just some people on ebay that no matter how hard you try to please them they like to neg. Firstly i would email them back and say that the item was certainly not damaged at all when you packaged it. Then let them start a paypal dispute for SNAD. They will have to prove the item is damaged to paypal. Worst case scenario is that paypal will side with them, they then have to pay to return the item to you (in it's original condition) by recorded delivery then you refund.
Good luck.

Thats true. I know only a train could have damaged that item, impossible to rip...... think thats about right and will try standing up for myself. Thankyou for your advice. :)

I had this before i sold a phone the guy collected it and checked it over yet a week later he said it was damaged and wanted a refund. Some people just are unbelievable.
OP do not refund. One neg will not make much difference to you as a seller on ebay at all.

the item i had was a baby item and i said it had been in storage but was new. They emailed me a week later threatening saying it had stains on it...i let them return it as i was totally confused-it was a stain where a plate or similar had been put on it...which wasnt there before im pretty sure as i checked it over...complete scam-i reckon they just changed their mind.
Ebay has become a scammers paradise. I wait for me first neg everytime i sell an item..

Yeah great idea, hey.

the feedback thing was originally meant to be to let people know how a sale or purchase had gone on...it was lightly taken-but is now so important to a seller as buyers place a lot of importance on it. I used to be bothered about get a neg but i really dont care now...i think most sellers will have them soon..

ive got a feedback now of 1233 with no negative.
i have had people try it on but when you ask for photos or to return the exact item in exact condition i sent it it tends to put them off. i ven offered to go round to someones house to pick the item up once but they never got back to me.
im still expecting to recieve my 1st neg soon as its only a matter of time before some idiot spiols it.
i do not sell anything i wouldnt be happy recieving myself ,unless i state there is somthing wrong in the description, so i know either they are trying it on or the postal service has damaged it.
#29
tbh this guy sounds like a scammer to me, he's trying it on for a full/part refund. I'd make him either send photo's through of the damage or return it, no questions asked and no negotiations.

I got a Neg over Christmas because the "Muppet" didn't read the description and didn't even know what he was buying. After contacting him he admitted he was in the wrong and offered to remove the Neg, which of course he hasn't and there's sod all I can do about it.

I've sent you a PM with an ebay link to get the feedback removed if your buyer agrees to it that is,good luck:thumbsup:

I sold on ebay for years. I stopped when the no neg to sellers came in force.
I found thewre was a totally different approach from the buyers. They got very nit picky.
Maybe your buyer didnt want it cus its limited as such. He could have copied the dvds and now has no use and wants to try for his money back.
May have damaged it on purpose people are really not beyond that kind of behaviour ya know.
Think im gonna put me exercise machine on here instead of flea bay.

Ask for piccies. wait for dispute to be filed. Contact parcel force. Make it hard as possible for him.
#33
Whatever you do,you will be out of pocket.
I wouldn't concentrate too much on your feedback. You can bend over backwards for a buyer to help them, including refunding in full. You may still get a neutral for your effort. You will lose your 100% feedback because they count towards your overall percentage.
If it goes to a Paypal claim, you WILL lose.Paypal will always side with the buyer.I have just experienced the same.Brand new item sent (sealed!).2nd hand item received back.
As long as the buyer sends the item back at his cost by at least Recorded Delivery,he will get his money back in full.
I asked Paypal how they can justify somebody buying an item from eBay,use it for up to 45days (the time allowed to process a chargeback),break it,copy it,play with it,do what the hell they want with it,then say that there is a problem and then they will get their money back. The message i received back was that it was 'company policy'.
I hope that your deal doesn't go down the dispute route, but don't expect to be able to put your case across and fight it.A buyer can do no wrong.

He could easily rip the box himself so no point in asking for pictures.

+1. Don't know why every is asking for pics as proof... he's just gonna do the damage himself and say it was like that when he got it.

yeh but if he wants a partial refund and they are not damaged it will shut him up! When i asked for a pic suddenly the item was fine!
