I have been looking for a car...no luck though finding what I want. So I am getting a bit more money and will get a newer model so I can find one I want with the features I want.

My choices are Vauxhall astra (new 2004 shape), ford focus (2001-2005 shape) or ford focus (2005 new model). Need a 1.6 or below!

I cant decide!!! Was set on a corsa but changed my mind as I dont like the interiors. Now I chosen a focus or an astra. I like focuses (I know a few people who have the 2001 -2005 shape and they like it). I dont know anything about astras though. I have had a corsa (old one! like 10 years old!) and its a small car and easy to drive! Im worried the focus/astra may be too big!

Any help if people have any advice be gratefully received! Will leave rep for good advice! Thanks!

Go for the newer Focus IMO, I have an 06 Focus and would recommend it to anyone

Go for Ford Focus, Newer one is probs better if you can afford it.

Better to drive and handles better than Astra

I've got a 2001 focus and its a good, solid care. Granted its been my first car but I've driven a few others like corsa/punto etc. and its by far the best. I'm even now looking at getting 2006 ST as an upgrade.

get the focus, i once had a hire car the 1.8 and it was fine, always loved fords so now i got chance to get a better car i opted for the x type jag as its still a mondeo

you wont regret the focus over the astra

i'd also hate to think what the insurance would be for the RS ............:?

Take a look at Toyotas. They are very reliable, cheap to run and nice to drive too. A Corolla might fit the bill.
