AdviCE.

Try CEX or the like. Avoid Gumtree and to an extent eBay. Scan the FS/FT board. There's always loads on thrre

Quite a few on the FS/FT atm (stick iphone in the search and filter by FS/FT), I too would be very wary about buying a phone from gumtree and ebay.

Ive heard that CEX items can be terrible condition so was a bit wary, have you bought from them before?
I am a bit concerned about buying from gumtree and ebay.

I have searched on here but they all either have a crack in the back or are over my budget.

I'm hoping to get a 3gs if I can but need it to be as cheap as possible, or may consider 3g?

What's the difference between the 3g and 3gs? I'm hopeless with phones!

AV forums phone section. Got the wife a 3GS with 6 months guarantee still left in good order for 200 quid a few weeks back.

ooh never thought of avforums, will have to give it a go.

kwikemart, you must have been extremely lucky to get a 3gs at that price

Just make sure you only buy from someone with good feedback. There are lots of iPhones being sold that are later reported lost/stolen that then stop working, or are stolen to start with.
Stick with buyer with a lot of good feedback and you should be fine.

that's why I hate buying these kind of things

If you go in-store you can view the items before purchasing. Cex have a grading system for phones; A is mint/as new condition with all accessories etc, B is good condition, C is poor condition. If you buy from in-store too you get 12 months warranty also.

Don't forget that if you do buy a PAYG that the iPhone eats a lot of data when you use internet, emails etc so you will need to take that into consideration as part of the ongoing monthly costs/top-up vouchers. Unless of course she will only use it to do all of that at home on Wi-fi (free) instead of whilst out and about.

Thanks for all your help!
I cant get to a cex store before her birthday otherwise I'd have defo gone in and had a look.
I'm hoping she'll only use the extras when she's at home and its free

I've never used Cash Convertors before but the general prognosis appears to be that a lot of thieves/junkies frequent the place to dump their stolen wares quickly. What is their policy on if the phone gets blocked down the line (which is what would happen when the original owner reports it as stolen)? Will you get your money back?
