tried to open my disc drive a few minutes ago and got no green light on drive as i usually would and it wouldn't open. googled the problem and did the pin method to open it, inserted a disc but it's not reading it either.
looked up the disc drive in control panel and it says it's working properly even though i can't get it to do anything :(
hellllllp!

do you have a "desktop" full-size machine? or a laptop?

If its a desktop does the drive tray open and shut with the motor? or only with the pin? do you hear the drive spinning when you put the disc in?

If you have a desktop open the case and check the power cable (the one consisting of four smaller cables) is firmly in, if you are confident inside a PC changing the drive is not expensive (around £20).

If you have a laptop replacing the drive is not so easy but can usually be done.

In either case external drives are around £50 and would be the easiest way to get around the problem.

just seen you have a laptop

You could check boot options on startup, make sure cdrom is selected as number one
To get into boot menu is different on some machines, should tell you for a sec or 2 when you restart computer, sometimes you hit F6 button or F12

Is it plugged in?

the cd tray is now opening after wiggling the tray a tiny bit. when i put a cd in it spins for a few seconds then stops. in my computer it's not showing that theres anything in the drive?

Next time it happens just delete the upper and lower filters which is why I asked you to clean lens first to rule out that you just meant it was not reading disc's, next step was to tell you to install ImgBurn and use tools / filter driver load order . then remove upper and lower which would have fixed it. You have now installed SPTD which can affect drive performance so if you notice it rips DVDs' reads Cd's slower than it used to that will probably be the cause.
