PLEASE HELP: My laptop seems to take upto an hour to connect to the internet, every time i restart it

Basically my laptop runs fine other than when it's overheated but for some strange reason, it takes about an hour to start working online via MSN or Firefox, yet the connection states I've got a wireless connection within seconds of being turned on.

I don't understand why this happens but would appreciate some advice from the tech experts out there because I would like to turn my laptop off from time to time lol. :)

Thanks in advance. :)

Are you sure you have a solid connection on boot? It could be obtaining an IP address from your router... Shouldn't take half hour though... Is the internet quick once you're connected? Check for firmware update for your router. Check Spyware and Viruses...

If this doesn't help then try connecting to the router via ethernet after a fresh boot. Without WiFi enabled if it connects instantly then something to do with WiFi router or WiFi on laptop...

Try all of above then come back with your results...

The problem is probably interference from another wireless connection - like video sender or something attached to the computer like a mouse.

Thanks for the advice guys and girls, I'm not very computer literate though, so I don't know how to do a lot of things but as far as I'm aware, I have no viruses and my wireless connection signal quality is practically always on max.

It just takes ages and then it seems to sign me into MSN at the same time and as soon as all the boxes stack (with my friends appearing online simultaneously) that's when I know my internet is fully functional because the laptop then starts working fine.

My connection seems to be fine once that's happened unless the laptop has overheated from being constantly left on, which I don't want to do.

Any help in step by step would be grately appreciated :)

Realfriendlyman, did you try connecting using an ethernet cable?
