Hi all,

Im a little confused, Until this morning I was absolutely sure I wanted a Nintendo Wii, then partner asked "what about Xbox 360 kinect?"

I only want it for the sports/dancing game as Ive heard from friends that they do help excercise/tone up and lose weight. (I dont get time to go down the gym).

Which is the better option? What would you reccomend and why?

Also partner has a ps3 do they do anything similar to a xbox kinect or wii sports?????

Thanks in advance.

Xbox kinect does look awesome. I had the Wii balance board and game but it was a novelty!! Used it a couple of times to exercise and then sold it.

+1 the only decent exercise I've seen on my Wii is EA Sports (light exercise) and the jogging game on wii Fit (the jogging game doesnt even use the board)

I would go for the Kinect, it looks really good

The jogging game you don't even need to run...just move the controller up and down and it's convinced you're running!! lol

PS3 has a similar system called "Move"

Kinect looks awesome and i do want it, but it is really expensive!

Ive jus seen the PS3 move on the argos website but I think its got controllers similar to wii, whereas I dont think you need controllers for kinect. (It does look awesome and is expensive Roll on JAN sales) :D

Kinect looks pretty awesome - already a couple of exercise games for it like the biggest loser uk and the ea sports active one (second one is pretty expensive but has a heart rate monitor). I used the Kinect in Currys to play that breakball type game and it was pretty fun! Kinects got a lot of potential and i'm pretty sure Microsoft will be pushing it very hard in the next year.

I think I can help on this... Wii Fit is useless in my opinion. Just dance is fun but not really authentic (Like most 'fitness' or dancing games on the Wii as it is just not accurate enough and can be open to cheating) and you can pass by just waving the controller about without actually dancing. Whereas the Kinect is great for Dancing and fitness games (The camera is accurate at monitoring slower movements, not great for fast paced games) but is much more expensive (£250 ish for Xbox and Kinect + Dance central to about £150 ish for Wii and Just dance).

Thanks for all your replies,

Ive made my mind up Xbox it is.

Ive just seen in argos an 4GB Xbox 360 with kinect sensor, kinect adventures and two other games worth £63.98 for £249.00. The Xbox on its own is £149.99 and the kinect sensor on its own is £129.99 :S

I dont get that? (Am probably being silly or its too late for me)

:S :S

ETA: I get it DOH!!! Silly me!!!

Computer games are for people under 14 years old. Anything older and you should be doing something a little more mature.

Each to there own I believe Computer games are for whoever wants to buy/play them. If they were for people under 14 surely they wouldnt make 18+ games. Plus not immature want to get fit in the comfort of my own home. Nothing wrong with that,

Studies have shown the the average age of a PS3/Xbox owner is somewhere in the mid 30's.
For the Wii it is lower but still in the twenties.

Computer games and such are one of the worlds largest entertainment industries. It's bigger than either the film or music industry by a long shot.

They haven't been 'for people under 14 years old' since the play-station one when games started being targeted at older audiences.
