ok, so i sold some dvd's on here for hubby and when they were received one of the cases was cracked and one had some writing on it ? i knew nothing about this.

i have been asked by the buyer to give a partial refund but neither of us is sure how much this should be.

if it helps, they sold for £5.00 and postage was £1.85 so i only made £3.15 from the sale.

can anyone help with how much i should refund the buyer

New case = 20p? Writing = minor issue at best given the intrinsic value is still there - it still works.
£1 if your feeling generous all in?

I agree.....sounds very petty to me

Im not being petty, its just id got them as presents thats all (petty would be returning them and im not like that, i don't usually quibble anything) I didn't want to ask for much as a refund which is why i suggested this thread

What had writing on it? o.O

Ask for a picture of the damage and if you are 100% sure it wasn't there when you posted it just ignore them, ebay is full of people just trying to rip you off.

they usually come in like packs of 10 or 20...if its only 3 dvd cases you may consider swapping the broken cases with your own dvd cases and giving the good ones away as presents(thats only if you dont mind a slightly damaged case-which personally wouldnt bother me and would save you going to poundland!)

My local tescos were selling DVD cases for half price - migth be owrth checking in there. I would say a refund of 50p would be fair.
#27
thank you but yeah its a 3 dvd box set unfortunately, and yeah ill check out Tesco next time we go into the next town, ours is just a little one
#28
Actually to get all thoses dvds for £5 is a real bargain. I thought you'd paid £5 each.

I see the dilema... 3 dvd amray cases aren't easy to come by, as least not in singles..

Ahh i was hoping one of you clever people would find a cheap one lol, thanks for looking though i really appreciate it. Just looking at whether it will be cheaper to buy the dvd again or to buy the case

Sorry Emzy I agree with the no refund vote, I know it's a bit tough but the seller did only make £3 and that was after the bother of wrapping them and going to the Post Office. It does sound a genuine mistake, and a bit of a bargain for you...TBH at that price i'm not sure I would have expected them to be in a gift giving state, unless it was stated as new condition of course!
