Tradition or Barbaric Torture? Did you know that in Spain live bulls are deliberately set on fire and released into the streets, where they thrash about violently in panic and hideous pain until they die? This isn't an account from the middle ages, but an annual festival - the "Toro Jubilo Fiesta" that takes place every November in Medinaceli, Soria, Spain. This barbaric practice must stop. No nation - particularly a member state of the EU or its officials - should be permitted to hide behind "tradition" in defense of this evil ritual. Please sign the petition below to make your voice count.

Link for petition here-have to paste into your webbrowser i think as shortcut doesnt seem to work otherwise

The video is horrific so I don't really recommend watching it all. But link is below. But signing the petition (link in heading)could help get this stopped.

Tradition

I would say its both - Tradition and barbaric torture

the problem with all these petitions against practices in other countries is,politicians only understand one thing-VOTES. Since nobody in britain can vote in the spanish elections, the spanish mps dont give a toss what we think. It takes the SPANISH to cause an outcry for things to change.

where is the video?

This is truly horrific. i have signed and shared. Please would you join the JUSTICE FOR JACK Facebook page, and sign the petition to help stop animal abuse? Jack( a small brown dog) was found dead in a horrifically emaciated state outside Whitehall Dog Rescue.

dont think they set light to the bull but bits attached to the horns. and I do agree cruelty to animals for fun is sickening.

It's not just burning them, they also stab them, slash them, gut them alive and every other possible form of torture.

The sick bar stewards.
I wish it could be banned, but they don't seem to care over there so it wont happen it seems.

Its their country - it should only change if they want it to change. I'm sure the Spaniards think hunting foxes with dogs is barbaric but many people in this country don't - they think its "tradition"......

As if the Spanish give a monkeys what the British think.

Totally pointless............whatever you think you have to respect the traditions and beliefs of other nations when it's on their soil unless it's genocide.

Yeah they're really going to change their traditions due to foreigners making an internet petition.

Are you kidding me? The internet has MASSIVE influence.

Lets be honest the spanish are not going to listen to an internet petition.

Right or wrong the law of there country obviously allows it however much people disagree with it.

Seen as many barbaric acts caused by people who are drunk in this country yet no petition set up for prohibition.

Whether a petition has an impact or not is a bit irrelevant. 'Traditions or beliefs' should not be accepted at any cost.
I think it is a good thing that certain traditions or beliefs are challenged. Otherwise we would still be living in a medieval society. If something is wrong it should be challenged.

It wasn't case specific. It was just a general opinion that the internet can influence things in real life.

I am 80% vegetarian because I can not tolerate much of the world's farming practices.
#23
Just start an internet petition stating for me to retract my opinions if you don't have a compelling argument.

Completely agree. It's irrelevant that it's a tradition.
If we allowed every tradition then there wouldn't be many animals left :| (for example China butchering every Tiger)

Signed.
Went to see a bull fight once to make a objective opinion on it and it was as barbaric as I took it to be, never again, I'm all for tradition but not at an animals expense.
#31
Must be really tender though cooking it while it's still alive.
#32
I don't think anyone is for the mindless killing and mutilation of a Bull.

It's just... We don't live there and also an internet petition is about as useful as making a group on Facebook.
#33
Any way we can stand up for what is right is not wasted. Its better than doing nothing and just dumbly believing we can't make a difference.
#34
Just because you don't live somewhere doesn't mean you can't have an opinion and voice it. Even if you live on the moon its pretty obvious that torturing animals in the name of entertainment is wrong! It used to be legal for a man to hit his wife, but we have moved on since the stone age, well some of us have anyway!

Yet, in some countries women still have less of a right than a man. It's not unheard of for adulteress women in some countries to be stoned to death. Whereas we just put adulteress women in Heat magazine. It's almost as if their are cultural differences in the world and we're not all bound by the same rules. Ignore me though, I'm sure you're too busy signing that Woman's global equality petition I may have just alerted you about.
#36
Yes I will. I think no matter where you live, there are basic rules of common decency that we all know are right. I will go and sign that petition you have alerted me to, and I am sure you are far too busy doing much more important things to bother about anyone less fortunate than yourself, like saving yourself a pound or two.
