Turn it off and leave it to dry out for 24 hours.

You should not have turned it on so quick. Normally, people take apart the phone as much as they could and they let it dry at least 24 hours before trying to turn it on again. Only suggestion now is to dry it out some more and hope it works.

Excuse me??? Why dont you get a life rather than commenting on other peoples.

Just report the posts and ignore the user, if you respond you're simply fuelling them annoying as they are.

With regards to your question, I agree with above - pop in an airing cupboard partially dismantled (to let the moisture escape) and leave it there for a day or so to make sure it's properly dried. The problem is that if you turn it on too soon, any remaining water will allow electricity to follow between points where it is not meant to which can damage the component. Unfortunately in this case it does sound like part of the aerial system has been damaged however it may be been lost from the start. It's worth still trying to dry it out though as you've nothing to lose.

Well you are not getting signal now so don't try it again now. Take the phone apart as much as you could and let it dry. Sometimes it will work fine after you let it dry, sometimes not. One thing is for sure though and that's not to turn it on so quickly after being dropped in water.

...use your imagination. anywhere warm is fine as long as you don't get it too hot and burn the components inside...
#10
:thinking:dont you have a hot water tank? in a cuboard somewhere? or if you have a tummble dryer pop some wet washin in and leave the phone on top of the tumble dryer DONT put it in lol

No, only have a tiny boiler for hot water and theres nowhere around it to put the phone. No shelves or anything. How annoying. What do you the chances are of it ever getting signal??
#12
I would take it appart as much as you can and leave it to dry at room temp for 24hrs at least
#13
:)id stay possitive a think it will come back given time to dry up good luck xx

Oven??!?!
#15
put it in a sock and put it on the washing line if the sun is still out just a thought:)
#16
if you havent a boiler put it under a chicken it works with eggs
#17
Just make sure the battery is taken out as this is what causes the corrosion on the circuits and the irrepairable damage.

Oh bloody hell! JD was joking! A lot of the OP's latest thread's have been asking for help, that's why he said it  I'm away to try & find a good deal on a sense of humour for some people!!!!! I can't believe the posts got deleted, bloody pathetic!

Careful!! You're not allowed to make jokes & have a sense of humour in this thread!!

I done this with my Nokia 6630 when it was brand new, I dried it out and put it inside my then gaffers computer to dry out. Still works as a back up phone now
#22
if you have any silica gel packets - the little paper sachets that you find inside sports bags/ handbags etc when you buy them - as before, take the phone apart and stick as many silica gel sachets around it and the remaining moisture will get sucked out of the phone!
#23
I've tons of these packs in my van, never even thought about using them all the times i've dropped my work brick into footway boxes.
#24
How about putting it on the top of the tv, that might work
#25
FFS JD got an infraction for what he said?!?!?! ****ing grow up & live in the real world! He never said anything bad!! It was a joke!!!!!!!

While humour is subjective, the tone and lack of smilies used didn't imply humour and I can't say I found it in the least bit funny nor did the thread starter (at least they didn't appear to). Additionaly regardless of whether it was funny or not the person was looking for assistance not someone to waste posts on humour, there are more than enough posts on this forum section for the latter to say the least.

Lol omg, it wasn't meant as a joke because he didn't use smileys?! And what he said was worthy of an infraction? Really?
#28
I said 'implied' which has a different meaning to 'meant'. That's all well and good if you find it funny but it wasn't your thread and frankly if everyone took that approach anyone trying to get assistance would be wasting their time. This type of behaviour needs to be cut back especially while this misc forum still has not been split and doesn't look like it will any time soon, I think an infraction was entirely appropriate and hope mods will be continue to do so for similar posts.

I'm sure you're well aware where the feedback forum is if you want to discuss the issue further.

I'm sory to say this John but I agree with Sadie that JDeal's very mild remark was quietly humorous and to find it offensive would , in my opinion be odd. He just remarked that he would be happy to point her towards a self-help book ( or words to that effect).
Bearing in mind the OP's posts so far,it seems a reasonable comment to have made on a number of levels. Certainly not worth an infraction.

Also. I think that Jake might not be well - I hope he's better soon.

Have I missed all the fun again?!

To be honest if JD posted it I sure it was pure class.

Anyway to the op, if it doesn't work you can get a new one for about £70.

Ps Don't go through his phone when he's out, its not good for relationships.

my son did this and we put it in the airing cupboard for a couple of days to dry it out slowly rather than frazzle it with a hairdryer - worked a treat!
