Hi all, have a bit of a dilema. Went to turn the cold tap off and it wouldn't stop.(Kitchen tap) The more I turned it off the faster the flow. Searched everywhere for the thing to stop the whole water supply & eventually found one I could turn in the bathroom (we live in a flat)
It stopped the water flow out of the 'broken' tap, so I pressumed I'd stopped the water supply? But all of the other taps are still working fine, is this right?
It's the first time I've ever had to deal with something like this & by myself..... I hope I've done it right as I don't want the pipe to become pressurised and burst!
Will this be safe until the morning as I can't really report the fault as an emergency as I still have a supply of water?
Also as I was emptying the washing up bowl into the bathroom sink I found half a black plastic washer...is this the cause of the tap not stopping, and if so would it be easier to just replace it myself (or get a man to help)
Thank you so so much to anybody who can help :)
