no not good at all, so much gun crime going on at the moment and the police under so much scrutiny if they shoot someone armed with a gun. The home office needs to take some positive action like much longer jail terms for possession and some more support for the police not the criminal !

Sadly, I do believe you are right-we are turning into America in this respect.

It scary to think how the future will be for our childrens children......:?

No we are NOT and nowhere near coming near America. the major difference is we do not have a law that says we have the right to bear arms. If this was the case I would be killing about 200 people a day on the motorway.

I hope Country keeps a hold on guns, for our childrens sake.

It's called being dissatisfied with UK life. More and more people are falling into this catagory every day, as I see it. We need a nice moderate govt that listens to it's people and does not hammer them into financial misery. When we get that, I have a feeling that things will maybe look up a little.
There are far too many depressed people around at the moment, and that is the underlying catalyst that causes normal people to go postal.

This situation is becoming more and more common unfortunately. The government instructing judges not to send criminals to prison because they are full send out a good message doesnt it(!) The trouble is, crims are not scared of the punishments that are issued by the courts anymore. This means that they arent scared about committing the crime in the first place. Hows about we have MUCH tougher jail sentences for criminals. Yes, in the short run this will mean our prisons will be even more crowded, but I'm sure by if the gov really wanted to they could solve that, but over time I think this will deter people from commiting the crime in the first place, which will lower the amount of people in prison. Instead we have a system where people are allowed to commit crime, get away with a slap on the wrists, and then only get to prison when they eventually kill someone. There have been more and more cases of failings in the legal system and the organisations in place to stop people reoffending. The government will have you believe that the numbers of police on the street has increased......yeah right. In our area 3 years ago, there used to be 2 sgts and 25 police officers to cover the area. Last week, there were 2 sgts and 8 officers. But its ok.........there were 2 PCSO's!!!!!! (who the constabulary has had to pay for as instructed by the government instead of paying to employ real police officers.)

And breathe..............

Plastic Police officers! The ones we have round out way are hopeless. We are also graced with ACSO's who are employed to do the same job but paid by the council. The only trouble is they have no radio's, no personal protective equipment and no idea! WHY WHY WHY waste money on people trying to do the police's job, and actually have some more police. Its a simple idea, but one that would be welcomed by many!

I know a lot of people on the front line who are transferring force, or getting out of the front line. The bosses have it in their heads that they are 'progressing their careers' but they are infact jumping off a sinking ship. The front line police officer is not supported enough, extremely overworked and puts thier life in danger every single day, and yet they are treated like absolute dirt.
