It is not all doom and gloom for the emergency services during the January 2010 cold snap. Rick Latham shot footage using his mobile phone of Thames Valley Police officers on Boars Hill using their riot shields to sledge in the snow.

In a statement LPA commander Supt Andrew Murray said: "The snow has a habit of bringing out the child in all of us.

"I have spoken to the officers concerned and reminded them in no uncertain terms that tobogganing on duty, on police equipment and at tax payers expense is a very bad idea should they wish to progress under my command."

they might hav been on their lunch break! who knows, but its hardly anything terrible and am sure if an urgent call came through on their radio they would have been back into the van superquick

I thought it was really funny

or they they were engaging the public ? showing a human side prehaps ?

Funny :-D

I don't think it's anything to get worked up over, I mean, who hasn't messed around at work for 5 mins. If they'd ripped off my bin lid to go sledging down the hill on, then that's another matter :p

Damned if they do and damned if they dont

Well you say superquick...one will have had to try and get back up the hill first...what an excuse that would have been :whistling:

"sorry we didnt catch the thief who stole your day's takings...i got stuck at the bottom of boars hill "

typical, pathetic.

Pleasantly surprised that a police officer worked out that a riot shield made a serviceable sled.:p

Only kidding - no big deal. Non-story.

They're only human.

I wouldn't be too friendly to the idiot who posted it after filming it though would you?
