Yes were got the above on the Sun deals. 2of us no kids.
What are we letting ourselves into? Can't get pics of room but see you get a sofa bed as a double, Whats that all about.
Are the kitchen areas as good as Butlins. What do we need
How long is it to walk into Southport.
Stop at the PrimierInn on the front last year not a problem there.
Ps - Can't wait

we were advised by a family member who had been not to bother

Imagine Baghdad during the war............well, it's not actually that nice

Honestly, Pontins is horrible. Its dirty and facilities basic beyond belief. From what I have heard Southport is not as bad as the others. The sofa bed is really uncomfy in the ones I been too. You will need pretty much everything, its not a patch on Butlins. Are you in Budget accomodation?

I drove passed last year and it didn't look that good from the road.
Let me more and I take it so far you don't want a wish you were ere then.

That one does look bad. Although its strange now as it is closed. we drove to Hemsby as we were staying at the Park Resorts site down the road, and he missus thought it was either an army bas or a prisn, then we turned into the road to be greeted by the large PONTINS sign!! :w00t:

Got chatting with a shopowner there and she said Hemsby was dead now since it closed

Yh, we were worried about Hemsby when we heard about it closing, it was such a lovely area and guessed it would be hit hard when Potins went:-(

Just checked that review site out and it looks like we need a ground sheet and the blow up bed to stay clean.
Lucky it will be a base only for us due to no kids and will be out of camp (if were allowed a pass out).
Some say food ok other say it's cr&p.
It will be a first and poss last visit.
#14
If it is just a base, then ok. If you were to spend time there, I'd say don't bother. Pool was dirty, accomodation not good although entertainment was ok for kids.

I'm sure after a few drinks you won't be too bothered about the accomodation, and just make the best of it. The "camp" is a fair way down a narrow road that follows the coast line so you have beach nearby (well more like sandhills), if it's a nice day a walk into Southport main bit is ok but i wouldn't like to do it back after a night out.

I've been to a few rave weekenders there - it's a dump. Don't bother.

It's next to the beach, so handy for that, but the complex itself is a dump.

We went last year and it was quiet but we had a good time. Our chalet was clean and the only issue we had was needing a new lightbulb. We loved Hemsby so shame it closed down - never had a problem with pontins. It is a long walk into Southport and would not want to do it drunk or not!. There are regular buses. Town is quite big and beach is pebbly and the sea never comes in!
#18
Just take own bedding, some anti bac spray to clean kitchen/bathroom over and you be fine. I too went to Hemsby - awful place. Been to camber, pretty bad too but not as bad as hemsby.

Watch this space and will report back.

hey I'm a regular at Southport Pontins 'cos the kids love the entertainment which is totally geared for the kids and the bluecoats are great with the kids... kids love it... accomodation however is a bit traumatic... damp, stained carpet, curtains hanging off walls, very basic and not particularly clean but no doubt I'll be getting dragged back there later this year...

accomodation however is a bit traumatic.

This is like walking to the cliffe wedge with everyone shouting don't go near the wedge you'll fall in lol then at the last minute it will kick in and then think I should have listened.

I've already got numbers for other places ready for when I walk out. But are these rooms safe as I read a review the doors didn't lock too good, cleaners had bits away, ceiling leaked and they were on the lower level.
Had a look on Google maps and if your at the wrong end of the camp it's a hike to the main area.
May give themm a ring and say don't stick me wheres theres damp etc or wil report you lol.

Well where here now in Southport Pontins. The room isn't too bad decor clean, Carpet not worn but needs a good clean so footwear needed at all times. Smell on carpet in corner near bathroom.
Kitchen fair all units, cooker and work surface good, never see cups as small if you put a teabag in one there no room for water lol.
Not using the sofa bed we've put the 2 singles together.
We've got a load of electric tokens free. Can't use water heater same time as cooker but thats down to loadings on circuit.
Wooden windows with a plastic opening window. Front door not the best so not leaving anything in room ie cameras when were out.
Not done the club house yet but looked in and I bet it's warm in there tonight.

Last update, Did the tour of the camp trying to find thing shown on the camp map, That must have been a mystery tour as we didn't find 3 places. Walked passed 3 bluecoats and they never said ello, smile it was as if we wasn't there unlike Butlins. The main bar was hot and a cute smell to the nose, Asked a guard where a food place was at 730pm he said it should be acroos the room in main bar but he hasn't seen it open yet this weekend. So rang through the rain back to room and i grabbed the metel handrail on the stairs and found it broken which lifted up a foot so I ended up in the wall (walk dont run lol). Put the sofa bed up for a laugh but it went back down theres no way you can sleep on the rails.
Would I stop again - yes as a base which is what we want but wished they put us away from the kids 630 playing football.
The camp was about 20% full
