Sorry for the daft question, but is it really an air con unit or one of those fans with a cooling feature?

Where did you get it from - got a link?

If you're following the instructions correctly and it's not running cold I'd reckon it's knackered.

Take it back to them.

thats what i thought but i remember the guy telling me something about its like an fridge it takes time to settle in for the cooling to take place so i just wanted to check if anyone else had this problem when they first bought thier air con.

I bought one a couple of years ago from Homebase.

Make sure the temperature is set to 16, fan on high and that it's not set on dehumidifier but cooling.

Mine cools as long as all the doors to the room are shut and all windows except the one the hose is going through are shut.

If the room is too big it will struggle.

I take it that the unit never gets cold then, from what you posted earlier?

They won't work instantaneously, like a car air con, they usually take about 1-2 mins to reach optimum operation.

Have you tried the suggestion on Den's post above?

Make sure you've read the instructions for running the air con function, otherwise you'll look daft if you take it back and you've not pressed the right buttons.

Yes it was instantly cold, not as cold as my car air con but a lot colder than a fan.
I'd take it back if I were you, sounds faulty.

You should know if it is aircon or just the fan - you will be able to hear the compressor kick in. Can't really miss it with the small units.
