Posted a few items this morning and was shocked by the price hike. For all that sell on the FS/FT forum make sure you know the new postage costs.

It's going to make buying and selling on here a bit pricey, I think I'll stick to bidding on 99p things on fleabay. I've bought a good few buys on there lately, I feel sorry for the seller as they obviously make nowt out of it.

Prices have gone up today but nothing has gone up as much as from £1.98 to £3.25. This has surely got to be a mistake.

thats what i thought, unless last item i posted was mistake and this was real price, god knows but if royal mail done there job properly i wouldnt mind paying the money they charge, there getting worse and worse tho.

i live literally 10 steps from the depot and i get my post around 2pm, they dont start their round till 10ish as ive seen them, i miss the days of waking up to see your post.

58p for a 90g large letter to be delivered by Royal Mail, whats the courier charge on that?
And 2kg sent by rm on a like for like service is only 22p more so not really that much more than the courier option, which only includes £25 compensation as opposed to Royal Mails £46

How much do you think it should cost to post a letter, considering RM lose money delivering them?

4.5% inflation at its best!

whats a franking account? I bought some bubble wrap, it cost £5.66 delivered, but it weighed over 1.2kilos, came with royal mail, so that should have cost them £4.50, it couldnt have been worth selling it at that price (yet they sell loads on ebay)

splatsplatsplat - You need a franking machine, more for business' use. Looks like we'll all be investing in one :)

Ive looked on ebay (selling a dvd) & their top charge for posting a dvd is still £1.

To be fair, everything is going up especially petrol/diesel I suppose they have to pass this on to their prices

It is the price of a universal service. They lose money on average as it is the same price to delivery to NI or the Outer Hebrides as it is the next town over.

If the courier will even entertain taking less then 1000 pieces of mail off of you the the price will not be any cheaper if you want it delivered outside a major conurbation.

I support these prices in principle. Of course in reality they use a bunch of lazy thieving gits to deliver your mail.

why? you think a company should lose money just because your wages don't go up?
