Postage on ebay

Hi all

Just sold something on ebay for £1.50 with free delivery. On the ad I have selected the 'no international postage' option. The problem is that someone from Ireland just bought it, and looking at the RoyalMail website it will cost nearly the same to send than I am actually getting for the item!

Anyone know how I can stop this, as I have a few more of these items!

Thanks

Foxy

You should write no international postage on the description of the item.... Most people don't realise..

Edit: Actually instead write postage to UK only- its what I do!

If you dont want to sell it to this person then contact them and tell them you clicked "no international postage".. then if they agree you can mutually withdraw the sale and just refund..

You also need to update your preferences,go into My Ebay>account>site preferences>buyer requirements

Tick the box : Block buyers who are registered in countries to which I don't ship.

That's the problem. What I can't understand is why they were able to bid from the Rep of Ireland.

depends if they are ni or southern ireland, if southern ireland you can charge postage even on stuff like dvds & games, the only postage that must be free is UK.

to stop people buying from outside the uk i have cut & pasted the help bit from ebay, this will stop people outside the uk on all your listings from being able to bid so saving you and the buyer hassle.

To select buyer requirements for all your listings:

1. Go to My eBay.
2. Click the Account tab, and then click the Site Preferences link in the left navigation.
3. In the Selling Preferences section, scroll to Buyer requirements, and then click the Show link.
4. Click the Edit link.
5. On the Buyer Requirements page, select your requirements.
6. Click the Submit button to save your requirements.

hope this helps.

For future reference to stop international bidders bidding:
Go to "my ebay", click on "Account", click on "site preferences". Go to "Postage and packaging preferences" click on "show". Scroll down to - Exclude postage locations from your listings - click on "edit". from there you can tick the box of all countries you do not wish to post to. Click on "apply to all listings".
thsi should put a stop to anyone outside the UK bidding on your items in future.

If the buyer has a postcode then the postage is the same as the UK. If they do not have a postcode then it will be charged at an international rate.
Hope this helps x

Why limit yourself to UK sales, sell worldwide, just make sure your postal charges are going to cover your costs. It's a big world out there.

Take the hit

Yep, I took the hit and made some adjustments to my listing. Not taking the hit wasn't worth the neg feedback!

Free delivery only applies to UK buyers, you can charge extra for international sales.
