Postage/Post Office question

I have to post a small package to Australia.

I want to send it recorded.

It's going to cost me about £15.00.

I do have enough stamps to cover it, although, 40-50 stamps are not going to fit on the package.

Can I pay for postage using stamps? I.e. giving £15 worth of stamps to the Post Office and them printing me off a label?

But you can use some stamps, ie. stick them on the parcel and then you can pay the remaining balance which they then print a label and receipt

Stamps are legal tender in UK, so the PO should take them.

Its certainly not the stupid question some posters are making out that it is, but I don't know the answer - quick 'phone call to the post office?

Having read that it seems like they are, however Ive read other sources saying they aren't lol

In theory if you had a friendly Post office they could. They would have to Rem in the stamps on the system then Rem out the cash that should be there to make themselves balance.
