Just wondering what it means when a poster is banned? I recently purchased something for another member last week - made payment on friday and the poster said they would post the item on monday - however, when i went online this evening it appears they have been banned. Now concerned that wont get anything for the money I have now spent?

Any advice welcome.

it means they are banned from the forum.

Plus they had low feedback and have only been here a month.

I hope you followed the trading guideline and got contact details etc
#2
OP the members is new & you have gave them £60.

yeah i am new - plus they had one feedback - so thought it would be ok. They did not have paypal so paid the money directly into his account. He had a few other active threads, so I thought it was fair enough. Now in hindsight I think I have been a bit stupid on my first purchase :(

You never know, it might turn up, don't give up hope just yet.
If you don't receive it then you could always set up a direct debit to a charity for the amount you paid from their bank account - you can do this with just a name, account name, account number and sort code which you already have. Retribution...but of course I can't condone such behaviour (_;)

So instead of buying a brand new San Fran from Orange for £75.00 like they offered -
you decided you buy a second hand one that you haven't seen off a complete stranger to save £15.00
and now you're probable out of pocket by £60.00
wow.

It is possible.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-506242/Clarkson-hoist-petard-fraudster-sets-charitable-direct-debit-using-bank-details.html
'The fraudster set up a direct debit using Clarkson's bank account details and paid the money to the British Diabetic Association, one of many organisations which do not require a signature to set up a direct debit.'
'The bank cannot find out who did this because of the Data Protection Act and they cannot stop it from happening again.'

OP has already said they've been a bit stupid, no need to rub it in

wow, did i really say that, whats wrong with me today :|

I could understand it at £40.... But £15 difference from new to second hand is a no in this situation.

Yeah kick a man when he is down, all is great in hindsight:(. But yeah, I will take it as a lesson to be learned, that should have done a bit more background to the deal. But will hold out hope and have messaged the other member who bought stuff of them......

would be great if the rules and guidelines were somewhere upfront rather than hidden in some obscure place - thankfully someone pmed me the link

Post his details here, and we will all do a random donation debit!

But all joking aside, I will hold off any doubts that I have got scammed to the end of the week. If I contact a moderator could they tell me why they were banned? And how do I contact a moderator?

OP must be new, everyone is being nice about it

Fraid not, as that feedback was left like 10 minates after the buyer mad payment so cant see how that is really valid feedback???

I'd take no notice of that..............they PM'd details, paid and then received the item all within the space of 10 minutes.

Wouldn't be surprised if the banned account was a multi of the person buying on that thread.

What about common sense?

Would you give a guy in the street £60 if he said wait here - I'm just popping home to get the phone.... and not ask him his address and phone number at the very least?

So why do it on here? oO

£60, that's gotta burn! If by a couple of weeks you realise it was a scam, please for the sake of the world post their details here and get that charity notified of how generous this scammer really is ;)

The deal looks as if it could have been agreed in another thread, but of course the sellers are different. I'll review the buyers response.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/for-sale-trade/ipod-nano-16gb-for-leeste16-only-plz/937417

To the OP, your seller was banned as being deemed a multi id. In addition, pics submitted by the member in response to a wanted thread

http://www.hotukdeals.com/for-sale-trade/wtd-gaming-laptop-asap/937993?p=11263826

are identical to recently closed ebay listing: 250805066017

We require pics to be in a specific format, for which the member never provided. They could have lifted those directly from the above item, so there is no guarantee that it's the same person. However failure to provide the above requested info, would also have led to a ban, but events seem to have overtaken that formality.

It shouldn't be rocket science to receive your item/refund/take further action, however do always make life as easy for yourself in the event that a member fails to return to the forums. Always exchange and fully verify all details prior to payment, otherwise you're effectively handing over cash, whilst blindfolded, to a complete stranger.

Thanks Scottish bloke - I have sent you a pm and have sent a pm to another member who purchased something of nivcesle and left feedback to see if they can help with the elusive member

Id grab the pitchforks and raid his house (presuming you have his details).

Also, wait a bit longer to see if it turns up.

so what was the other id(s) of the banned member, if the op knows that then they might be able to get more info and money back?

Did you check out the links above?

Where there is enough public information for us to make an assumption on a multi I'd, we don't have any hesitation in linking. At the time of my posting you'll see I asked for further information from another buyer regarding their purchase. If there are any further id's to be linked on the same basis as above, check out the tags for xxxBannedxxx. Each listing should in turn link to the related I'd within that thread. Treat is as a banned traders list.

Should the seller in the below "For Sale / Trade" listing also be added to the (unofficial) "banned traders list", aSB?

Actually, after reading over the listings quoted above there are some direct parallels to the seller in the thread I mentioned & the recently banned member, nivcesle.

I would not be surprised if the member Exceptional & nivcesle were the same person, but that is just a hunch (for now).

I have no proof other than my impressions from what I have read so far, but I do still have the contact details (provided to me last year) for Exceptional if anybody still has outstanding issues to resolve from past trades.

Hope your problem is resolved soon, irishbeta.
