I had a postie nick a sample of shampoo from a packet and still post the rest of it onto me! :x

Sending cash How to send cash or other valuables
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is it safe?

We collect and deliver 82 million letters and parcels a day, six days a week, to over 27 million addresses. We try to make sure each one arrives safely and on time, but occasionally something goes wrong and an item of mail goes astray or gets lost. If this happens to you we’ll do our best to sort it out.

Which service to use?

We recommend that you use either Special Delivery 9am or Special Delivery Next Day to send any valuables or cash. With these services you can buy up to £2,500 compensation for loss or damage and up to £10,000 compensation for consequential loss.

it used to be called "registered" and when I worked on a Post Office counter I'd have a dozen guys sending their wages back home each week with no mishaps.

Are you sure the posty 'nicked' an almost worthless tiny sachet of shampoo and thus risked his job, home and prosecution.......... or is it more likely the packaging got tore in a machine and the shampoo fell out

As already mentioned, cash is only insured by Special Delivery.
Next time you could do a postal order, safer than sending cash.
Is this for the phone or something you started a thread about Paypal and safe ways to send money a week or so ago?
#31
Postman do nick stuff , even samples going missing where i live , even had bank letters opened , obviously ive reported it but our postman change like the wind.

Before i knew better i once sent cash by recorded delivery , the cash was stolen , lucky the person noticed the damage and refused to sign.

I bloody hate Royal mail

lol - there are loads of safe ways to transfer money apart from cheque / paypal - sending it via RM is the worst option.

There are loads of postmen that handle your mail form collection to delivery.
The fact that your postman changes so often strengthens the case that it isn't going missing at point of delivery.

Good to hear someone has faith in Royal Mail. Silly Silly person.

Send anything in the post I always get proof of sending as I know I will need to make a claim sooner or later. Recorded delivery isn't worth the paper the name is written on, I am sure every postie knows it is a poxy service and nick many of the packages as it can't be proved where the item went missing. Over the last year I must have claimed for nearly 600 + Recorded delivery packages that haven't been delivered or signed for.

If my cost of the item is over £40 I send it by Special delivery. Cash or valuables has be either Special delivery or delivered by hand....like in to a BANK.

Can you send me some money whilst you are being generous? Sorry to say this to the OP but unless the recipient is trustworthy I wouldn't have hope that the package will arrive.

ps. I have come across far too many posties that are always on the rob and regardless of being 'grassed' up on sadly nothing has happened regarding their extra activities.

my dad used to work for the royal mail and steal post....urm sound odd saying that im not proud or anything not seen him in 10 or more years, my mum and dad got a divorce after she found out, its stupid how they labled him with a gambling addiction and he went to rehab, he should of gone to prision, idiot, and that why i never send money in a card

surely you are exaggerating? thats over 10 claims a week! Unless of course you are posting out 50+ items a day! :-D

Yes my outgoing post is huge at times, so no exaggeration at all. I send out hundreds of items every week. The only good thing is I do get reimbursed the fees I pay for recorded delivery when the item hasn't been signed for but has been delivered, however the 'lost' items I lose out of the time / profit put in to selling or making the finished product.

I submit bulk claims monthly and the claim form often runs into multiple pages, the return of the 75p although not a huge amount does help but doesn't cover the time of constantly cross referencing addresses with tracking ids etc then completing the claim forms

has anybody actually seen a postman steal their mail?
