i was looking for one of these and searched for weeks trying to work out which was best due to the different fees and such and i found that actually the paypal pre paid card was by far the best with less fees for everything which i found strange as paypal are normally robbing you know what

I'm looking for one now that Ryanair is changing away from Visa Electron :x
Not found the best deal yet but this is what I've discovered so far:
Some (eg Thomsons) only allow you to top up with foreign currency that you've bought in their shops (not always best exchange rate)
Some have a high joining fee
Some have a high monthly fee
Various cards have transaction fees.
Some have an inactivity fee
They all seem to have a cancellation fee.
Top up can cost you too

Still searching !

Omh I didnt know their were so many! I typed prepaid mastercard into google and the 1st page i clicked on only shown 3 I thought it was going to be pretty simple!! Ive been using the virtual electron card which charged me about £1 I think for every £10 I loaded on to it from my bank account and the minimum you could load was £10.. I was looking for a similar deal! I love ryanair but they sure do make you work for the bargains!

Just checked with Paypal. You're dead right about fees and charges.

Unfortunately their Top Up card is a VISA so will incur Ryanair chanrges

Dont get one - People charging you money to use your own money.. Money that you already own and have to pay to put on the card... WHAT? Sounds stupid to me.

It's worth it if you're booking a cheap Ryanair flight, they charge something like £5 per person per journey for paying by another method. So if you book a cheap return flight and pay using Visa, you'll pay another £10, and the same for every other person on your booking.

If you use a prepaid card, you may be charged a couple of quid, but still less than £10pp.
