i recently found out i am pregnant not sure how far yet but i think about 10weeks, the last couple of days ive had headaches which came and went but since i got up today at 7am ive constantly had a headache and i cant shift it, ive taken paracetamol and i even went back to bed for abit but still no joy, my partner got me a 4head thing from asda but that didnt really do anything, im finding it hard to look after my 7month old with a constant headache, luckily my partners off work today. i remember having headaches last time i was pregnant but im sure they didnt last as long. can anyone recommend anything i could try as i dont want to take to many painkillers. im seeing the midwife tuesday so will mention it to her.

i found i had head aches that lasted ages when i was preg and eventually realised it was because id cut all caffine out of my diet and my body still needed some. i found eating ice poles really helped aswell though ;)
congrats by the way!!!

are you dehydrated? if you aren't drinking enough this can lead to headaches. go lie down in a darkened room with a hot flannel on your forehead and stay away from the pc as this could be the cause!!

I am six months pregnant and during the early part of my pregnancy I constantly had headaches. The midwife just told me to take things easy (easier said than done, working full time and having a two year old!).
She did say to try and get someone to massage my head, which kinda worked.
I also think it had something to do with the amount of sweet stuff I was eating with my cravings and when I cut that down they seemed to go.
Just make sure you are drinking enough fluids.
Good luck and congrats!

Probably lack of sleep as well then and maybe stressed thinking about going back to work.
I feel for you, I really do, try and get some rest whenever you can

I think you should call up your local maternity unit and ask them about unless you ok to wait till next week.
I also thought you shouldn't take paracetamol until your 12wks but might be wrong. Sometimes medicines say to be taken if pregnant if recommended by a doctor, that the benefits to the mother outweighs for the baby or something.

ive only taken a couple of paracetamols, i think it should be ok, last year when i was pregnant i didnt find out till i was nearly 5months and id taken loads of painkillers within that time for headaches and toothaches, but now ive found out within the first few weeks im being careful what i take and what i do. i work in a care home and i was doing alsorts of things and lifting people last time before i found out, so when i go back in a few weeks im not doing anything that i shouldnt lol.

Call your dr maybe? Would be wise if pregnant can check your bp, do bloods if they deem necessary:thumbsup:

If you feel that bad, don't wait until Tuesday:thumbsup:

Paracetamol is ok in the early weeks too, don't worry about it.

I am 11 weeks pregnant and seem to have every symptom going, including these nasty headaches. Apparently the extra progesterone makes you more prone to them. The progesterone seems to cause every ikky symptom. The best thing to do is to drink lots of water, and if possible rest up. They should start to disappear or be less severe when you get to 13 ish weeks, although I'm not sure why this is.

You say you don't drink tea or coffee.. did you before you knew you were pregnant? lots of pregnant women quite rightly start living healthy lifestyles after finding out they are pregnant and start drinking more water instead of their usual coffee but coffee is adictive and your body goes through a sort of cold turkey when it doesn't get its fix and one of the syptoms of this "cold turkey" is a headache.. if you were a coffee drinker then have a nice strong cup of coffee and your headache will go.. if I'm right you call call your baby "Hook" after me

Awww someone's beaten me to it :x

i do feel abit stressed and my bodies probably not back to normal from having my daughter in september. im also worried as i had my gallbladder out on 2nd of march and i must of been pregnant then but didnt know and was worried incase anything might of affected the baby, but ive read online that its quite common for pregnant women to have the gallbladder out so that eased the worry. i think i will be less stressed when ive had a scan and i know everythings ok and how far gone i am.

I had lots of headaches during my pregnancies. Paracetamol didn't shift them so was prescribed by the doc paracodol which has 8mg of codeine and 500mg of paracetamol. These helped and I was able to take these during breast feeding as well. I am prone to headaches anyway but hormones in pregnancy made them go into overdrive. Being stressed, tired won't help though. Just try and take it easy.

Congratulations on the pregnancy, and I hope your headaches go and it's all fluffy bunnies from then on :)
