Printer help - am at wits end!

Does anyone have any good tips on how to get my new(ish) Epson SX515W printer to print (bought it Feb)? I (foolishly??) replaced the cartridges with compatibles as everyone on here seems to think they're ok to use. Basically the magenta has not worked since and now the black won't come out either. Have gone through nozzle check followed by head cleaning now but am having no luck. Seems there is a blockage as the ink is certainly coming out of cartridge ok, but not sure how to unblock printer itself. Don't want to bugger up the printer. Any ideas? Would be eternally grateful.

get a sheet of paper spray with isopropyl alcohol try and print on it , clean heads, repeat, , clean heads, waste more ink repeat etc .Still the same then use the alignment tool and repeat head cleaning again ..

Still don't work take it back minus the compat cartridges.

sounds like just the thing the Epson fans never tell you

cheap ink blocks the nozzles and ruins the printer

have you checked the cartridges are compatible? what are the numbers on them? (t0711 or whatever)

Definately correct type of cartridges. They do register ok but cannot get any ink through to printer for black and magenta. So I shouldn't have believed what I read on here? Bought the printer from Amazon as saw the deal on here. Forgive my ignorance but what is isopropyl spray??

Should I resort to buying Epson cartridges or is there a good chance will still not work. Didn't keep the original cartridges when changing so would I still be able to return the printer empty?

It seems that it is hit and miss with Epson printers and compatible cartridges. I only buy Epson brand cartridges because I have read about the problems others can cause, but one of my friends only buys compatibles and has never had a problem.

It's normally not in a spray form. AFAIK

Get some isopropyl alcohol from a chemist and they buy one of those garden spray things from B&Q or use an empty spray from say some Alberto balsam or similar after cleaning it out with a little with warm water.
